“…as well as all the cities that Shlomo had for storing supplies, the cities for his chariots, the cities for his horsemen, and the other buildings Shlomo wanted to build for himself in Yerushalayim, in the L’vanon and throughout the land he ruled.”– 1 Kings 9:19
Verse 19 tells us that Solomon even erected buildings in Lebanon.
So we get a good idea of just how far northward his power extended.
This reminds of something important we shouldn’t overlook.
Take a look at these verses:
“Turn and journey on, and make your way
to the hill country of the Amorites
and to all their neighbors in the Arabah,
the hill country, the Shephelah, the Negeb,
and the seacoast, the land of the Canaanites,
and the Lebanon, as far as the
Great River, the river Euphrates. See, I
give the land before you; go in
and take possession of the land that
YHWH swore to your fathers, to Abraham,
to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give
them and their descendants after them.”
-Deuteronomy 1:7–8
“Every place on which your foot
treads shall be yours; your territory shall
extend from the wilderness to the Lebanon
and from the River
—the Euphrates—to the Western Sea.”
-Deuteronomy 11:24
“Every spot on which your foot
treads I give to you, as I
promised Moses. Your territory shall extend from
the wilderness and the Lebanon to the
Great River, the River Euphrates—all the land
of the Hittites—and up to the Mediterranean
Sea on the west.”
-Joshua 1:3–4
Hmm…ain’t that interesting?
In the territorial boundaries described in God’s covenant with Abraham…
And the later passages that describe Israel’s promised territory…
Lebanon is included in that geographic area.
That’s right, homies.
Lebanon belongs to Israel.
And if the Lord’s promises cannot be broken.
Sooner or later, there’s gonna be a geographical reshuffling that’s gonna return that land to its rightful holders.
Some homies argue that you can’t connect the biblical land promise to the borders of the modern State of Lebanon.
They’ll make some idiotic claim that the Biblical Lebanon was a geographic region, not a country with modern borders.
I don’t think that homie is gonna hunt, homie.
Why?
Well, again, just read the Scripture references I copied and pasted above.
Moses connects “the Lebanon” directly with the land Israel is being told to go in and possess.
And then immediately identifies that land with the land YHWH swore to give Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and their descendants.
Ya feeling me here?
