“On the fifteenth day of the seventh month you are to have a holy convocation. You are not to do any kind of ordinary work, and you are to observe a feast to Adonai seven days.”-Numbers 29:12
From verse 12 of Numbers 29, the Feast of Sukkot, otherwise know as the Feast of Tabernacles or the Feast of Booths is spoken of.
This represents the third and last of the pilgrimage feasts that require all Hebrew men of the age of accountability (over the age of 20) to journey to the temple and sacrifice.
Sukkot signified the conclusion of the agricultural year when all the last and remaining bits of the field harvest were all gathered up and stored before the beginning of the next cycle of planting and rain.
Although, we usually think of Sukkot as an 8-day festival, technically speaking it’s really only 7 days.
In other words, the feast itself is only 7 days but it is immediately followed by an extra Sabbath day of getting together and fellowship.
When you actually dig into the details of what this feast is all about, you’ll find some ABSOLUTELY STUNNING revelations that will leave you slack-jawed and blow your mind sky high like it’s never been blown before!!!
Here are three jaw-dropping points about the Feast of Sukkot.
THE 13 BULLS SACRIFICED ON THE 1ST DAY REPRESENT THE RETURN OF THE TRIBE OF LEVI!!!
Sukkot has a very unusual schedule of ritual sacrifices.
On the first day, a whopping total of 13 bulls (the MOST EXPENSIVE Of all the animals by the way) are offered up.
On the second day, 12 bulls are offered up and it continues like this by reducing the number of bulls by one each day.
Amazingly, on the 7th day of Sukkot, 7 bulls are sacrificed (there’s that magical number of 7 again!).
The quantities of all the other sacrificial animals and elements like the grains and wine etcetera remain the same throughout.
It is only the number of bulls starting from the number 13 that change.
Now why 13 bulls?
Usually when sacrifices are offered up for Israel, only 12 are offered up representing the 12 tribes of Israel
But do you remember how HASHEM separated the Tribe of Levi away from the rest of Israel to be of special service to Him?
Once this separation happened, Levi was no longer to be counted as part of Israel!
So what I think we’ve got here is an astounding revelation letting us know that in the Millennial Kingdom the Tribe of Levi is going to be grafted back into the rest of Israel!
Welcome back brothers for ALL of Israel shall be saved!!!
Onward…
THE TOTAL NUMBER OF BULLS SACRIFICED REPRESENTS THE SALVATION OF THE GENTILES WHO ARE GRAFTED INTO ISRAEL!!!
Alrighty, this point is so mind-blowing I can barely contain myself here.
When you calculate the number of bulls sacrificed over the entire 7-day period, what number do we come up with?
We’re talking SEVEN multiplied by TEN!
The total number is 70, right?!
Now Biblically speaking, do you remember what the number 70 means?
The number 70 represents all the nations of the world.
So in some mysterious way, even the gentile nations of the world will be connected to SUKKOT.
Even the ancient Rabbis say that SUKKOT, the mother of all the Biblical feasts, involves the whole world in some way.
Check out this verse from the book of Zechariah.
“Then the survivors from all the nations
that have attacked Jerusalem will go up
year after year to worship the King,
the LORD Almighty, and to celebrate
the Festival of Tabernacles.”
-Zechariah 14:16
Remember, SUKKOT represents the final ingathering of all believers who have been grafted into Israel in the final days and marks the entry of the 1000-year reign of Messiah.
Okay, let me pick myself off the floor so we can move on to the next and final point.
THE AMERICAN HOLIDAY THANKSGIVING IS MODELED AFTER SUKKOT
In an agricultural society, for the ancient Israelites, remember that Sukkot was all about giving thanks to HASHEM for providing a sufficient amount of crops to keep them alive throughout the year.
Now here’s a little piece of American history you may or may not be aware of.
The first settlers who arrived in America, the Pilgrims, recognized this element of “thanksgiving” in the Feast of Tabernacles and decided to create a holiday based on this Biblical Festival.
That’s right folks.
The origins of Thanksgiving are derived straight from this very Torah we are studying!
