As we get deep into the thick of Leviticus chapter 25, I want to encourage you to resist the urge to mentally wander off which is what happens to 99% of all Bible readers once they get into Leviticus.
STAY ALERT!
This chapter goes into two very important principles the New Testament FULLY EXPECTS ITS READERS TO UNDERSTAND.
I’m talking about RELEASE AND REDEMPTION, which is really what salvation is all about if you think about it.
So in my last post I explained how history proves beyond a doubt that when Israel is NOT in the land, the land responds by dying.
This is one of those supernatural God-principles that you can bet your life on and here’s some more historical proof showing this is true.
In the early 1900’s the French held much territory in the Middle East.
During this time, they took a census and found that the total population of the Holy Lands reached less than 60,000 people.
This was comprised of fishermen who lived along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea and the Galilee, desert wanderers (Bedouins), a small number of scattered shepherds, and some farmers.
In terms of a country’s population, 60,000 people is a ridiculously low number.
However after World War One, slowly but surely the Jews began repopulating the land.
And then after World War Two, when Jewish migration numbers really began to explode, the land sprang to life and began to produce again.
Again, this is one of those non-negotiable and overlooked principles in the Bible that has proven to be true over and over again when one simply examines the facts of history.
When the Jews are not in the land, the land becomes dead and unusable.
This reality can be compared to the miraculous birth of Isaac, the promised son from Abraham’s seed who gave birth to Jacob.
Remember, the birth of Jacob WAS the birth of the nation of Israel.
Prior to God’s declaration and election, Sarah’s womb was dead and useless.
However, once God decreed that Sarah’s womb would become the source of a people He would set apart for Himself, her womb sprang to life.
The exact same principle applies to ERETZ ISRAEL!
God made a decision to take the Land of Canaan away from the evil Canaanites and turn it over to His Chosen People, Israel.
When the Canaanites inhabited the land, in spite of the land having abundant pastureland and fertile fields, it was a physically and spiritually dead wasteland.
However, once YHWH set apart the land for His People, a fundamental law of the universe was put into motion and from that moment on, the land would only give up its fruit for God’s chosen people.
The formula is pretty simple.
When Israel is in the land, the land is vital and productive.
When they’re not in the land, it becomes a dead and useless piece of real estate.
Unfortunately, in our day we are now witnessing the negative side of this principle working itself out.
Here are the indisputable historical facts:
Israel won back the Gaza strip in 1967.
Here’s the thing.
BEFORE 1967, the Gaza was an abandoned, desolate, practically unpopulated area.
AFTER 1967, the Jewish settlers moved in, farming began, and the desert almost immediately began to bloom.
In fact, the Jewish farms of Gaza became so productive that they reached the point where they were supplying up to 1/3rd of all the produce raised in Israel.
Let me say that again.
The amount of produce from the Jewish farms in Gaza alone reached a level where they accounted for 1/3rd of the total produce of the nation.
I hope you’re catching the significance of this.
Now let’s fast forward to the year 2005.
Actually, let’s get more specific.
Let’s fast forward to August 15th, 2005.
This was indeed a sad day in world history (and yes I mean WORLD history because it affects the whole world) because this is when the Jews succumbed to pressure from the outside world and gave the Gaza to the Palestinians.
What has been the result of giving away a piece of real estate to foreigners or non-Jews?
The answer is as clear as the blue sky on a bright sunny day.
From August 15th, 2005, the Gaza began to die a steady death and is now well on its way to becoming a useless wasteland again.
And let me tell you something.
Apart from letting God’s Chosen People back into that area, there is nothing in the world that can make the area of Gaza fruitful again.
It doesn’t matter what the United Nations or the liberal lobby of the United States tries to do.
And there is nothing science can do to increase the productivity of the land.
If the Jewish people are not allowed to settle there, the land will NOT produce, period.
I’m not making any crazy predictions or engaging in religious extremism.
The facts speak plainly for themselves that this is what is already happening.
This is the way the land set apart for Israel operates.
And why?
Because God has declared it so.
And His purposes will NOT be defeated by men.
