We’ve been studying about the MENORAH (Golden Lamp stand) which stood in the HOLY place and we’ve learned that the MENORAH only burned during the hours of darkness.
There is some awesome symbolism at work here.
Yeshua, the Messiah, who was represented by the MENORAH, was consumed up on earth for a specific reason.
He came to be the fuel that put light into our dark world.
When Yeshua returns however, He will not be a fuel that is consumed but a King who rules over a place of Godly light (אוֹר).
Check out these verses from the Book of Revelations:
“And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honor into it.”-Revelations 21:23-25
Hmmm, this is very interesting!
We’re told in the coming kingdom there will be no need for the sun and the moon.
In fact, there won’t be any need for lamps at all.
For God Himself will be our light.
Here’s the thing.
In our current universe, in order for physical light to be produced, there has to be a conversion of matter into energy.
SOMETHING HAS TO BE CONSUMED AS FUEL in order to produce light.
That something can be olive oil, petroleum, gasoline or whatever but there has to be something.
For instance, our sun and the stars are fueled by hydrogen.
And the same went for Yeshua.
While he was here, the ONLY way he could produce light was by being consumed.
He gave himself totally, he surrendered his whole being to his Father’s will in order to be light for a dark world.
There’s a really important lesson here for us folks.
The only way that we too can produce light for a dying and dark world is to totally and completely surrender ourselves to the Father and be utterly consumed up by Him for His divine purposes.
We can use our limited time, energy and money (frozen energy) for the Kingdom of God or the Kingdom of Darkness.
But once our limited resources are gone, they’re’s no getting them back.
When the Master returns, are you going to be one of those servants who buried his treasure in the ground because he was afraid to be consumed or are you going to be the one who lived boldly and allowed his talents to be “consumed” for the Lord.
The takeaway is as clear as daylight.
If we’re going to serve as light for a dark world, a conversion of matter into energy must take place!
It doesn’t matter how much pure oil is inside of us, if that oil isn’t lit and eventually consumed, there will be no light.
In other words, just sitting around peacefully feeling all warm and fuzzy all day while eating potato chips isn’t going to cut it.
Until we convert our resources into action, there will be no light.
And just in case some may think I’m implying that our being consumed for the Lord is necessary for salvation, rest assured I’m not.
Our allowing ourselves to be consumed is a result of our salvation, NOT the way to salvation.
CONNECTING THIS TEACHING TO THE NEW TESTAMENT
When Yeshua spoke again to the people, he said,
“I am the light of the world.
Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness,
but will have the light of life.”
-John 8:12
