The Bible makes one thing clear.
Mankind is heading towards a disaster of such Biblical proportions that world leaders will demand ALL authority be turned over to one man.
While this one man won’t necessarily have the title of “King”, that’s basically what he’s going to be.
And he’s going to be a king possessing more power and authority than any other king who came before him ever had.
As I mentioned yesterday, it’s part of mankind’s nature that we must be ruled by a king.
That’s what the Lord was trying to teach Israel during the period of the Judges.
Deep down inside, all humans desire a leader who will show them the way and solve all their problems.
The stumbling block is there’s a huge gap between the type of king men think they want and the type of king the Lord knows we need.
Mankind wants a king created in their image.
They want someone who is tall and handsome with a regal and dignified air about him.
However, the Lord could give two hoots about His chosen king’s appearance.
“But the Lord said to Samuel, ‘Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.'”-1 Samuel 16:7
The Lord seeks a King who is a sacrificial servant who serves with humility and puts the people’s needs before his own.
God’s King will be called the Son of God (a messianic title by the way) and will seek to do only the Lord’s Will.
Up until this point in time, human history has only known one such king.
Can you guess who it is?
Hint: It is NOT Y’shua of Nazareth.
Nope, Y’shua of Nazareth has yet to reveal himself as a king on the world stage yet.
“My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place.”-John 18:36
The Godly king the world has seen is the other Y’shua.
I’m talking about Y’shua, the son of Nun who led the Israelites into the Promised Land.
And yes, even though he didn’t have the title of “king”, he was the first Godly king.
The second and final Godly king will be Y’shua of Nazareth and he’s returning to finish the work the first Y’shua didn’t complete.
Namely, the full conquest of the land of Canaan.
To close, notice in Judges how whenever the children of Israel repented of their idolatry, the Lord sent them a savior.
But when they didn’t repent and decided to wallow in their disobedience, the Lord sent them an ungodly king who oppressed them.
Thus the Biblical pattern is established.
There are 2 kings who are coming to us.
One leads to oppression and slavery (like pharaoh in Egypt).
The other leads to freedom and blessings.
That’s the bottomline folks.
If the world doesn’t turn to the living God for salvation, they’re going to get a king alright.
He’s known in the evangelical world as the Anti-Christ.
For those who choose the narrow road leading to salvation, your King shall be the Son of the Living God.
Here in Judges, we see that ancient Israel made the wrong choice way too many times and it cost them dearly.
I pray we learn from their mistakes.
