“At that time there was no king in Israel;
a man simply did whatever he thought was right.”
-Judges 17:6
A reminder here folks.
The whole purpose of the Book of Judges is to demonstrate to not just Israel but the entire world that mankind needs a king to rule over them.
Don’t pay attention to mainstream Christianity which teaches the opposite.
The gentile church will say that God didn’t really want Israel to have a king because He wanted to be their king…
And so that’s why their desire for an earthly ruler was wrong and sinful…
That’s what the church says anyway…
And they’re WRONG…
As wrong as if I said lions are herbivores.
So let’s just get this straight because it’s that important.
Not just the book of Judges, but the entire pattern the Lord establishes from Genesis all the way up to Revelations is that mankind must have, ABSOLUTELY NEEDS a king to rule over them.
Honestly, to me this is such an obvious point.
I mean who for example is referred to in the New Testament over and over again as a “king forever” in fulfillment of what is prophesied in the Tanakh (Hebrew Bible)?
Yeshua, right?
See, the issue has never been about God not wanting man to have a king.
It’s always been about WHICH earthly king God wants for His people.
Verse 6 (also copied above) sums it up well:
“At that time there was no king in Israel;
a man simply did whatever he thought was right.”
Again, notice there’s a connection between every man doing what he thought was right and there being no king in Israel.
In other words, without a king, total and utter chaos ensues.
In fact, I’d go so far as to say this verse sums up the entire theme of the whole Bible.
Israel needed a king back then and they need a king now.
And the same goes for all of mankind.
To that point folks, I’ve got news for you…
We’re gonna get a king alright.
His name is Y’shua.
Also known as the Son of God and the Messiah of Israel.
When he returns, he’s gonna usher in the beginning of a 1000-year reign and expand Torah rule (God’s divine commandments) over the entire planet.
CONNECTING THIS TEACHING TO THE NEW TESTAMENT
“On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written:
king of kings and lord of lords.”
-Revelations 19:16
