“Shimshon said to them, ‘I will certainly have my revenge on you for doing such a thing; but after I do, I’ll stop.’ Infuriated, he began killing them right and left; it was a massacre. Then he went down and stayed in the cave at the ‘Eitam Rock.”-Judges 15:7-8
In order to avenge the death of his father-in-law and his daughter, Samson goes on another killing spree randomly slaughtering any Philistine who was unlucky enough to cross his path.
This one little phrase in verse 8 says it all:
“it was a massacre”.
Samson told himself he would get his revenge…
But then he would stop his killing once he felt he had spilled a sufficient amount of Philistine blood to pay for what they had done.
After he was done with his murdering, we’re told he went to rest inside a cave at a spot called Eitam Rock.
Well following that cold-blooded slaughter, I’m sure you can imagine how enraged the Philistines were.
At this point, there’s no way they were gonna forgive and forget what Samson did.
And I need to remind you of the uncomfortable truth that this was the very purpose for which God created Samson in the first place…
Samson was to be that wrecking ball to disrupt any peaceful relationship between Israel and the Philistines.
Now if you can’t see the parallels between this situation and what’s happening in the Middle East today, you must be blind.
I’m about to say the most politically incorrect thing you’ve ever heard in your life, so brace yourself.
God does NOT want peace in the Middle East.
Not yet, anyway.
The conflict between the modern day Philistines (the Palestinians) and Israel is the Lord’s Will.
Why?
Because the type of peace men are trying to achieve means Israel would have to compromise on the covenants God made with them.
And the Lord NEVER compromises.
Plus, let’s face it, way before the Palestinians became a problem, Israel was being harassed by other nations.
Jordan used to be Israel’s enemy.
Before that, Egypt, Iran and Iraq also gave Israel trouble.
And I’m sorry to say this is never going to stop until the Israeli leadership stops giving up portions of their Holy Land to the enemy.
I’m talking about half of Jerusalem and the Temple Mount where the Dome of the Rock is located.
It’s because the current Hebrew leadership keeps showing tolerance and respect for this false god called Allah that the Lord continues to ensure Israel will be harassed by nations hostile to them.
Yeah, you read that right man.
It is God Himself who is making sure any ridiculous manmade Roadmap to Peace NEVER happens.
Yet the Israeli leadership has continued to go against the Lord’s Will by evicting Jewish settlers from their homes in Judea and Samaria against their will.
What’s amazing is that only a few years earlier those settlements were given support and financed by the Sharon government.
Again, this is all happening because the Israeli government has been brainwashed by international pressure into thinking this is the way to peace…
That by giving away portions of their land to the enemy, somehow the enemy will be satisfied and somehow grow to accept Israel.
Boy are they in for a rude awakening.
Because they’re fighting against God Himself.
What’s even more tragic is when the secular Israeli government fails to achieve the peace they had hoped for, wanna know who they’re gonna blame?
They’re gonna blame their own citizens, those faithful Jews who still hold fast to the Lord’s promises and covenants.
These are the modern day Samsons who the Lord has placed in the land to ensure no ungodly peace process happens.
But honestly, I can’t see this problem being solved until Messiah returns.
I mean look at the situation.
Not only do we have constant violence from the enemy, but what’s worse is secular Israel’s disobedient response to that violence.
The Torah demands and commands that those gentile enemies be expelled from the land.
I’ve said it before but history is circular.
What happened during the days of the Judges is happening today…
And it’s happening in the very SAME way for the very SAME reasons.
CONNECTING THIS TEACHING TO THE NEW COVENANT
“Do not think that I have come
to abolish the Law or the Prophets;
I have not come to abolish them
but to fulfill them.“
