Let’s talk about the Apostle Paul in comparison to Samson for a sec.
Because as believers, I think there’s much we can learn by comparing and contrasting these two men’s lives.
Here’s the thing.
Both men were chosen by God.
And both experienced worldly temptations.
But how they responded to these temptations was radically different.
And that difference made ALL the difference in terms of the fruit they bore in their lives.
Paul chose to surrender to the Holy Spirit dwelling within him instead of being pulled to and fro by his flesh.
While Samson on the other hand, let worldly temptations overtake him.
As a result, today Paul is looked up to as a supreme example of the type of believer we should emulate…
While Samson has gone down in history as a warning to those who choose to walk in the flesh instead of by the Spirit.
There’s another interesting point of comparison I want you to catch.
From a worldly perspective, Samson seemed to have it all.
He was tall, strong and handsome.
Men respected him and women swooned whenever he passed by.
When he was thrown into prison, his brute strength enabled him to break down the walls so he could escape.
The Apostle Paul on the other hand was the exact opposite.
He was small in stature and wasn’t considered especially appealing in the visual department.
And when he was thrown into prison, he had to wait for an angel to come free him.
Yet who has undoubtedly had a deeper impact on believers and changed the very course of history?
The man who surrendered to the Spirit?
Or the man who let the temptations of the flesh overtake him?
Of course, the answer is the Apostle Paul.
His life is a strong testimony to what can be achieved when you wholeheartedly surrender to the power of the Holy Spirit.
Let this be a lesson to us all.
