I want to demonstrate that even today in our times the curse God placed on Jericho is still alive and well.
A lot of Christian theologians will say that with the advent of Messiah and the ushering in of the so-called New Testament age the curse on Jericho was lifted.
Well, that’s not the case and history proves it.
After Israel returned to their land inheritance in 1948, Jericho actually thrived.
Jews and Arabs were living together in peace and harmony.
Nice villages were built and the local produce such as dates grown from the Palm Trees were world-famous for their quality.
In fact, tourism in Jericho exploded and as a result, the residents in Jericho were living quite well.
Then the first Palestinian uprising began (called the “Intifada”) leading to a series of Palestinian protests and violent rioting against the so-called Israeli occupation.
What was the result of the enemies of God attempting to make Jericho a stronghold against Hashem’s Chosen people?
The answer is simple.
They put themselves under the curse of Joshua.
Tourism in the area came to a screeching halt resulting in the residents of Jericho falling into poverty in only a few short years.
Now soldiers armed with machine guns have to guard the area.
As long as Jericho remains a place occupied by anyone other than the Lord’s Chosen People for the purpose of standing in defiance against the God of Israel, the land will always remain cursed.
And there you go.
History itself proves the curse the Lord pronounced in Joshua Chapter 6 thousands of years ago stands today.
Indeed, the Word of the Lord will not return void.
NEXT TIME WE BEGIN JOSHUA CHAPTER 7
