In my last post, I finished off by asserting that no matter what goes down in the history of Israel, there cannot be any fundamental change to the Law of God…
…not at least until the close of the “Old” Testament.
But this leads to the question of the New Testament.
Did the advent of Yeshua do away with the Mosaic Law?
Again, we need go no further than Matthew 5:18.
“For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished”.
Yeshua made it clear he didn’t come to change the Law…
…not at least until “heaven and earth pass away”.
So let me ask you a question?
Has heaven and earth passed away?
Go ahead and take a look outside.
I’ll wait.
Did you check?
Are the heavens and earth still here?
They are, right?
Good.
Now let me ask you this?
While the Apostle Paul and the writers of the New Testament walked the earth, had the heavens and the earth passed away?
The answer is clearly no.
However, there is one person and institution that does claim the authority to add to, take away from and alter God’s Holy Laws.
Have any idea who and what institution I may be talking about?
I’m talking about the Pope and Catholic Church.
The Pope and the Catholic Church claims the right to supersede the Mosaic Law and they demonstrated this by changing the Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday.
Clearly this is blasphemy because Scripture didn’t give anyone other than Moses the right to establish Hashem’s Laws and instructions upon mankind and Moses is no longer with us.
The truth is…
…the theological foundation of the modern gentile church is based way more on the writings of the Apostle Paul than on the teachings of Yeshua.
Let me say that again.
Most gentile church doctrine and structure comes from the writings of Paul than the teachings of Yeshua.
But here’s what you’ve got to understand.
While everything Paul and the other NT writers penned was indeed truth, they did NOT have the authority to do away with or change God’s Laws or commands.
Again, we know this is true because it was only Moses who possessed that authority.
Here’s the big problem.
Paul was not anti-Torah.
But the church has interpreted him in that way.
I’m telling you right now homies, it was NEVER Paul’s intention to communicate that the Law had been done away with.
NEVER!
Again, I can say that with confidence because Paul was NOT a mediator like Moses was and thus did not possess the right to alter or do away with God’s Torah anymore than Joshua did.
