Over the past couple of days we’ve been talking about the 6 cities of Refuge (also known as the Sanctuary Cities) and how they are a pattern that points to Abraham’s Bosom.
I betcha a lot of what I shared raised a bunch more questions and possibly caused a heck of a lot more confusion than the usual cookie cutter answers gobbled up as truth by the naive and uninitiated.
And you know what?
I think that’s a good thing.
In order to grow in the Lord’s Word, I think it’s important that we’re challenged sometimes instead of always just blindly following everything some Christian Pastor who possesses absolutely zero Torah understanding says or just sticking to traditional doctrines because “that’s the way it’s always been”.
I’m telling you folks, a whole new world opens up to you when you read God’s Word the way it was intended to be read.
What do I mean when I say that?
Well, I’m glad you asked.
‘Cause they’re 2 key points I wanna share with you.
FIRST, the Torah is foundation for the whole Bible (all the way up to Revelations).
SECOND, the only way to really understand the Scriptures is to read them within the structure of the patterns and principles first established in the Torah.
Got it?
Forget about what some gentile church council decided and to heck with secular ideas of fairness and morality that are rooted in culture instead of God’s Word.
It’s high time you get used to the idea that the Torah IS the divine mechanism by which God reveals His character, His Will for mankind and His unchanging patterns and principles to us.
Let me give you a small piece of advice that will instantly put you head and shoulders above any graduate school level seminary student anywhere in the world guaranteed (Hey, I ain’t kidding man).
Whenever you’re having difficulty understanding a certain passage in Scripture, look for the pattern embedded in the story because more often than not, it’s the pattern that will answer the “why” question popping up in your mind.
Again, a perfect example is the whole concept of Abraham’s bosom we’ve been discussing.
At first glance, it doesn’t really make sense because it’s this strange mysterious destination that’s a pleasant place created for the souls of the righteous dead but it ain’t heaven.
And it ain’t hell either.
So what in the heck is it?
Well homies, we find the answer in the Cities of Refuge.
These 6 sanctuary cities represent the pattern that tells us what Abraham’s bosom was all about.
Or let me rephrase this in a way that’s hopefully easier for you to understand.
Abraham’s bosom already existed in the heavens way BEFORE the earthly pattern of the 6 cities of refuge was established.
Got it?
The 6 sanctuary cities are patterned after Abraham’s bosom and NOT the other way around.
Is that clear?
Here’s another immutable (meaning “unchanging”) principle you can take to the bank.
The spiritual without exception always comes first.
And then after that, the physical or earthly model is established so as to as much as possible mirror the spiritual reality in the heavens.
I don’t know about you but that thought just excited the heck outta me.
The first 5 books of Moses are a direct physical reflection of God’s truth in the heavens!!!
It is because of this reason, I could literally study God’s Word forever until it’s time to go home…and even then I think I’ll still wanna study it.
It’s just that darn exciting to me.
