Today we begin Joshua Chapter 11.

Just as chapter 10 was all about Israel conquering the southern regions of the land of Canaan, chapter 11 was all about Israel’s conquest of the northern areas.
From this perspective, chapters 10 and 11 really shouldn’t have been divided into two chapters because the contents form one unit.
Right off the bat, we’re told that the kings in the north did the exact same thing the southern kings did.
They formed an alliance in the hopes that by combining their forces and wits, they’d be able to stop the invasion of the advancing Israelite army.
There’s an interesting pattern unfolding here that I want you to notice.
FIRST, God instructs Joshua and promises him that He will be with him.
SECOND, Joshua obeys and gives Israel the instructions he received from God.
THIRD, Israel obeys Joshua and victory is achieved by means of Holy War.
Take note of this pattern because I believe this is how things are going to unfold when Messiah returns…except it’s not going to be to take just the Promised Land but the whole world.
FIRST, God will instruct Messiah (whose name also happens to be Y’shua in the original Hebrew by the way) and promises that He will be with him.
SECOND, Yeshua will obey God and give all his followers the instructions he has received from His Father.
FINALLY, Yeshua will lead a holy army to destroy those nations and their armies who came against Israel.
We know this battle by the name “Armageddon” and it is going to be fought according to the exact Holy War protocol (Herem) outlined in the Torah.
