The plagues the Lord sent against Egypt achieved their intended purpose.
Kneeling over his dead first-born son, Pharaoh finally agrees to let the Israelites go.
He tells Moses and his people to leave Egypt.
They leave but…
…afterwards Pharaoh changes his mind.
He gathers up his troops and chases after the Israelites all the way to the Red Sea.
The people’s faith are tested once again when they find their backs against the deep waters of the Red Sea and no means of escape from the Egyptian army bearing down on them.
Yet, in just the nick of time…
…the Lord divides the Red Sea creating a path for Moses and the people to walk through…
…and the Israelites escape to the distant shore on the other side.
Pharaoh in his pride and rage chases after them with his troops.
This turns out to be the biggest mistake of his life.
The waters that Hashem opened for Israel He now closes and the waters come crashing down upon the Egyptian army drowning them all.
Of course, there’s been much debate concerning the exact location where this incredible miracle occurred.
Liberal academics will say that the Israelites didn’t really cross the Red Sea at all.
Instead they walked through a mud flat called the “Reed Sea” is their claim.
This idea is super ridiculous when you consider there’s no way in hell the whole Egyptian army could have drowned in just a few inches of water that covered this mud flat.
Other Bible scholars say that the Israelites did indeed cross over what was at that time called the Red Sea but today it is called the Gulf of Suez.
We’ll continue this discussion the next time we meet.
