We’re following on the heels of yesterday’s post which explained how Moses after being thrown into the Nile River by his parents was rescued by an Egyptian Princess.
This event would obviously distinguish him from his Hebrew brethren for all time and forever.
The first major difference would be the environment Moses was brought up in.
Moses had the privilege of being raised in Pharaoh’s palace and as a result received the best education in the land if not the world at the time.
Moses studied mathematics, accounting and writing and was even trained in Egyptian-style martial arts.
He was also rigorously schooled in proper court etiquette.
Because of all this special training and education, Moses would have been given authority to rule over others by his 13th birthday.
In those days, it appears the average life span was only about 25 years, so Moses would have for all intents and purposes been considered an adult at age 13.
Having said that, it seems like the Hebrews had much longer life spans.
Finally, despite many movie versions to the contrary …
…Moses always knew he was an Israelite even while growing up in Pharaoh’s palace.
Heck, the truth is he probably visited his birth mother often as a child.
Remember per Miriam’s suggestion to the princess, as a baby Moses was nursed by his real mother for many months after he was drawn out of the Nile River.
