Alrighty, in our Torah overview, let’s go back to Joseph in Egypt.
The time is now a bit after 1800 B.C. and the 12 tribes of Israel are now living in Egypt where they will remain for four centuries.
FIRST, they will reside in Egypt as guests.
SECOND, they will become citizens.
THIRD, they will be forced into becoming slaves.
Now I need to attack head on the scholarly skepticism existing in some academic circles concerning the idea that the Hebrews didn’t really reside in Egypt at all.
Some archaeologists will make the claim that the Israelite culture discovered in Egypt doesn’t match with the Biblical record of WHEN they were supposed to have been in Egypt.
Hence, they conclude the whole exodus story is simply a nice fairy tale instead of real history.
Well, the first thing that needs to be pointed out is there ain’t any question of whether or not a Hebrew culture did exist in Egypt.
Scholars who specialize in the study of ancient Egypt (called Egyptologists) have discovered the remains of a huge Israelite community totaling about 2 million people exactly where the Bible says they resided: in Goshen.
The archaeological name of this community is called TELL ED-DADA.
However, its most recent name is AVARIS.
It was situated right next to PI-RAMESES which was the city where Pharaoh resided.
Again, all of this archaeological evidence matches the Biblical record perfectly.
So why all the scholarly fuss that claims the city of the Hebrews existed at the wrong TIME?!
Because these idiot scholars are basing their findings on an old dating system that scientists call “Regnal Dating”.
What exactly is this “Regnal Dating” system?
It’s a system based on the timeline of Egyptian royalty which has been shown to be inaccurate and filled with gaping inconsistencies.
The takeaway here today is…
…whenever you listen to professors with their pipes and cigars that attempt to refute the Biblical record based on this discredited dating system, be highly skeptical.
And yes, that includes what you may hear on the History Channel, Discovery or any other of these other documentary TV programs that are supposed to be based on solid historical research.
All of these folks want to stick to the out of date Regnal Dating system because they have an agenda that seeks to disprove the trustworthiness of the Holy Scriptures.
They cannot deny the biblical archeological discoveries, so they seek to discredit them by saying the Hebrew community lived in Egypt at the wrong time.
Hogwash!
