“But Yeshurun grew fat and kicked
(you grew fat, thick, gross!).
He abandoned God his Maker;
he scorned the Rock, his salvation.”
-Deuteronomy 32:15
I mentioned yesterday that Deuteronomy 32:15 is surely a messianic prophecy pointing to the coming Yeshua.
And some folks responded saying…
…”Look man, ‘Yeshua’ is just a generic Hebrew word that means ‘salvation’ or ‘savior’ and could be referring to any of the number of saviors the Lord sent to Israel after this prophecy was made”.
Well, here’s what you’ve all got to understand homies.
Bible prophecies in Scripture are NOT one-time events!
This is a fact that has been long recognized by Bible scholars.
A Bible prophecy will occur and then it will occur again.
And then it will occur even again.
Take a look at the prophesied exile of Israel for example.
It happened three times!
In fact, one could say the whole prophetic history of Israel is the nation falling into idolatry, being restored, falling into idolatry and then being restored over and over and over again.
Or how about the whole end-times prophecy of the so-called anti-Christ entering into the Holy Temple, setting up an image of himself and then commanding that he be worshipped.
This is something else that also has already happened BUT IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN.
“When did this event first happen?”…you ask?
Ever heard of a dude named Governor Antiochus Epiphanies who was in power around 167 B.C.
He was the one who took his army, conquered Jerusalem and then blasphemy of blasphemies set up an idol to himself as a god in the Holy Temple.
The famous event is written about in the books of the Maccabees.
We’re told that a Jewish rebel force led by Judah the Maccabee reclaimed the Temple by force, purified the holy building and afterwards relit the Golden Menorah.
And then legend has it, in spite of there not being sufficient oil, the candles miraculously stayed lit.
Of course, we now all know this event as the religious festival of Hannukah or the Feast of Dedication,
Actually, it’s probably more accurate to call it the Feast of Re-dedication because it was all about the “rededication” of the Temple to Hashem.
Again, my point is that there are many Biblical prophecies that are cyclical…they will occur again and again and again AND…
…Deuteronomy 32:15 is no exception.
Sure, God would save Israel by sending other saviors besides Yeshua of Nazareth on many occasions over the centuries.
My point is that Yeshua of Nazareth was yet another fulfillment of the prophecy of Deuteronomy 32:15.
That’s why it’s so important for us to pay darn close attention to what’s written here in Deuteronomy Chapter 32.
Believers too easily assume that since the Song of Moses was written a long time ago and was directed to the ancient Israelites, they don’t have anything to worry about because they’re already saved believers.
WRONG!
Here’s what you’ve got to understand.
This Song of Moses is only being directed towards “saved” people.
This song was NOT intended for unbelievers.
In this song, God is speaking to people He had already saved from Egypt about 40 years earlier.
Got it?
And here God is predicting that this “saved” Israel is indeed going to apostatize and turn away from the Lord not too long after Moses passes away.
This song is NOT for the unbeliever, the heathen or some random truth seeker.
It is speaking only to those who are already of the house of God meaning those who have already entered into a covenant with Hashem.
Remember the Biblical patterns and principles are eternal and never change.
