“And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.”-Ezekiel 36:27
Yesterday we just got done talking about how God bringing His people back from the Roman exile was an act of grace that was NOT conditioned upon Israel’s repentance.
In this amazing turn of events, we see a pattern of salvation that believers have counted on for centuries.
I’m talking about the pattern that…
…HASHEM will woo whom He wills!
For those whom He wishes to draw to Him, the Lord will plant His Holy Spirit inside of them so that they will not only have the desire to obey Him but also the capability to obey Him.
However, you should know that to those Jewish exiles living in Babylon, this was a radical concept.
The very idea the Lord would put His Holy Spirit inside of sinful men was beyond belief at this time.
Anyways, I don’t want to go deep on that topic right now.
This biggest takeaway from all of these posts concerning Ezekiel 36 is this.
How can any church after witnessing with their own eyes what God has done for His own people think that Israel has been rejected by Him?
Similarly, how can so many secular or atheist Jews assert that they have not been chosen by God (and say they don’t really want to be) after knowing all of the grace their God has showered upon them?
NEXT TIME WE BEGIN DEUTERONOMY CHAPTER 31
Damian Hons says
What amazes me is that some claim that the wrong people established the modern day nation of Isreal, so this nullifies any notion that God was fulfilling His Word in both covenant and prophecy.
Such a statement requires that we ignore how Yah used gentile nations to exert His will on events and persons in the past (Babylon anyone?)
