“Adonai will bring you and your king whom you have put over yourselves to a nation you have not known, neither you nor your ancestors; and there you will serve other gods made of wood and stone.”-Deuteronomy 28:36
Verse 36 is one out of those many mystery verses I mentioned are embedded in this 4-chapter section of Deuteronomy.
The first thing I want you to notice is that the entire tone of the narrative switches from the hypothetical to the inevitable.
The phrasing of…
….”If you do this, then this is what will result”…
…changes to…
…”this is definitely the way is going to happen”.
In other words, we’re dealing with prophecy here folks!
No more maybes or probabilities.
The Lord is making it clear here that Israel will rebel against Him and as a result end up being kicked out of the land.
What’s also amazing is this is being predicted 300 years BEFORE Israel ever had any idea to enthrone a king to rule over them after the manner of the nations.
Look closely at the wording.
HASHEM says He will send Israel AND THEIR KING to a gentile nation their parents did not know and that didn’t even exist during the days of the Patriarchs.
And that’s exactly what happened.
In fact the prophets Isaiah and Jeremiah quoted the curses listed here in Deuteronomy 28 when warning Israel to turn and repent.
Here’s another mind-blowing fact most people aren’t aware of.
Due to Israel’s rebellion to HASHEM, they were only a sovereign nation for only about 80 years.
You read that right.
What’s interesting is there is only a 10 year difference between how long ancient Israel was a unified nation compared to the length of time modern Israel has been a nation after it was resurrected from the dead in 1948.
That’s right.
The modern state of Israel is only about 70 years old.
It was only during the rulerships of Kings David and Solomon that all 12 tribes were unified as one nation.
About 4 years after Solomon died, Israel fell into a civil war and became divided into the Northern and Southern Kingdoms.
The Northern and Southern Kingdoms were also respectively known as Ephraim-Israel and Judah.
The Northern Kingdom was made of 10 of the 12 tribes of Israel and was the first kingdom to be sent into exile.
In order to accomplish this, in 725 B.C., the Lord used the Empire of Assyria as a tool to finally drive the Northern Kingdom out of the land of Canaan and scatter them throughout the entire Assyrian Empire.
As a result, most of the Hebrews were absorbed into the many cultures that formed the nation of Assyria.
And thus the legend of the 10 Lost Tribes of Israel was born!
