“However, if someone hates his fellow member of the community, lies in wait for him, attacks him, strikes him a death blow, and then flees into one of these cities; then the leaders of his own town are to send and bring him back from there and hand him over to the next-of-kin avenger, to be put to death. You are not to pity him. Rather, you must put an end to the shedding of innocent blood in Israel. Then things will go well with you.”-Deuteronomy 19:11-13
Before we move on to our next topic of discussion in Deuteronomy 19, there’s a couple more important points I need to cover about the GOEL or the Blood Avenger who takes revenge on the killer who intentionally or unintentionally killed one of his relatives.
First, understand that in God’s economy, if the Blood Avenger catches the unintentional killer before he reaches a City of Refuge and slays him, he has done nothing wrong AND…
…in the case of an intentional killer, the GOEL absolutely has to put the murderer to death in order to satisfy God’s justice system.
Per Torah, the life of a murderer must be paid as reparation.
In addition, recognize that in the case of a murderer, no atonement or forgiveness before the Lord is available because of the deliberate and high-handed nature of the crime committed.
In verse 13, we are informed of two interesting things.
First, a murderer is to be shown “no pity”.
God wants to make it clear that a murderer is under no circumstances ever to be spared out of love or some retarded notion that the penalty is too harsh for the crime.
God is well aware that a murderer probably has many people who love and support him and that such love from a family or a community might cause them to pity him and not go ahead with a death penalty sentence.
A perfect example are Palestinian terrorists who murder innocent Jews and then when they return back to their communities are lauded as heroes.
God says such behavior is forbidden.
A murderer is to be put to death.
Period.
The second point is that by properly executing the murderer, the blood of the innocent life that was taken will be removed from Israel.
This touches on the never-changing Torah principle of blood guilt that states…
…the innocent blood of a murder victim creates blood guilt upon the entire community.
In other words, if the blood of an INNOCENT murder victim is not properly purged by executing the murderer, the Lord will hold the entire community responsible.
Let me say that again.
Until the murderer’s guilty blood is shed in reparation, blood guilt will rest upon the ENTIRE community.
And this Torah principle has never been done away with (actually none of the Torah has been done away with).
A perfect example of how we blatantly disobey God on this matter are all of the murderers who are kept alive in our federal prisons today.
For example, how about that freak Charles Manson?
Why the hell did our tax dollars go to keeping that murderer alive until he died of natural causes well into his late seventies?!
If God’s justice system had had its way, he would have been executed like immediately right after his trial.
I’m done.

IF SOMEONE ACCIDENTALLY CAUSES A DEATH I DONT THINK THEY SHUD BE EXECUTED…IF IT TRULY WAS ACCIDENTALLY DONE BUT IF IT WAS DELIBERATELY DONE THEN BY ALLLLL MEANS THEY DESERVE 2 BE PUNISHED & EXECUTED IMMEDIATELY!!!! THEY SHUD BE TORTURED LIKE LIVING MAD HELL 4 A FEW HOURS B4 THEY R ACTUALLY EXECUTED!!!!!!!!!!

Glad you’re in agreement with this. Our society (and the world) would be so much better off if they followed God’s instructions for proper living. When Messiah comes, all the crookedness in the world will be made straight. Thanks for reading. Be blessed and SHALOM!
