Alrighty, after I posted my series of articles on the timing of Yeshua’s last supper, arrest, death and resurrection, people all over the world are just about losing their minds.
Madness and chaos is ensuing everywhere and there is blood on the streets!
Look folks, all I did was point out what the Holy Scriptures say, contrast and compare them with the already fixed historical customs of that era (such as the timing of FirstFruits etc.) and then merged them together to come up with a logically consistent picture.
This approach is different than that of many Pastors and Bible Teachers who just talk around the issue and insist that Yeshua had to have been crucified on Friday and arise on Sunday.
Again, with that interpretation, Yeshua could only have spent 2 nights in the tomb.
And I maintain that Yeshua had to have spent 3 days AND 3 nights in the tomb.
At this juncture, people will ask,
“LITERALLY, where does it say in Scripture that Yeshua would spend 3 days and 3 nights in the tomb?”
Alright, I’m gonna address this head-on and bury this argument right now for all time and forever.
The 3 days and 3 nights prophecy in the tomb was established when God sent Jonah to Nineveh to warn them they were going to be destroyed if they didn’t repent.
Because Jonah was reluctant to go, he ended up being swallowed by a whale.
Here’s the Scripture verse establishing this:
“And the LORD appointed
a great fish to swallow up Jonah;
and Jonah was in the belly of the fish
three days and three nights.“
-Jonah 1:17
So there it is!
It clearly says 3 days and 3 nights which is surely differently than 2 nights and 3 days.
If you stayed in a hotel for 2 nights and upon checkout found out you were being billed for 3 nights, you would be mad as hell, wouldn’t you?
And I don’t care which Bible translation you choose.
The original Hebrew and all existing Rabbinical sources that speak on this issue are in agreement.
Jonah was in the belly of the fish for three nights and days (and who cares if it wasn’t a full 72 hours).
Alrighty, the next question that often comes up even though a quick Google search will give you the answer in the blink of an eye is…
…”Where does it literally say Jonah being in the whale was prophetic of Yeshua’s time in the grave?”
Well, here are the verses for you…
“Then some of the Pharisees and teachers
of the law said to him,
“Teacher, we want to see a sign from you.”
He answered,
“A wicked and adulterous generation asks for a sign!
But none will be given it except
the sign of the prophet Jonah.
For as Jonah was three days and three nights
in the belly of a huge fish,
so the Son of Man will be three days
and three nights in the heart of the earth.”
-Matthew 12:38-40
Well, there you have it.
If 3 days and 3 nights are required, the Good Friday scenario presented by the gentile church simply cannot be correct.
Yeshua could not have died on Friday during the day and then rested in the tomb on Friday night, then spent Saturday daytime and Saturday nighttime still inside the tomb and then was resurrected on Sunday morning.
Again, I don’t care how many silly ways you try to slice this tomato, it’s still only 2 nites inside the tomb.
And that dog just ain’t gonna hunt man.
The only other plausible possibility is that when Yeshua spoke about laying 3 days and 3 nights in the heart of the earth, he was referring to something else besides his death and resurrection.
But then we’re entering bizarro land.
Because there ain’t no other recorded event that even comes close to fulfilling Jonah’s prophecy than Yeshua’s death and resurrection.
Period.
Look, do you want to know why the gentile church is so afraid to study the Torah?
It’s because they first establish a doctrine (usually to fulfill some kind of anti-Semitic agenda) and twist and contort the Scriptures to fit their preconceived notions.
This misguided mentality is why they’re so afraid to actually open up that first half of their Bibles and find out what it really says.
They’re afraid they’re going to find out that everything they’ve been taught is not built on as strong a foundation as they’d like to think.
And honestly, to a certain degree they’re right.
They’re most basic doctrines such as the idea that the “law has been nailed to the cross” or that Yeshua is literally God Himself in human flesh are as radical a departure from what the Torah really teaches as you can get.
Well, I’m here to tell you that far from losing your faith, the result of studying Torah will be an incredible increase in faith!
The Word of God is alive AND…
…it is accurate and reliable.
Yeshua was right when he said…
“Man shall not live by bread alone
but by every word that
proceeds from the mouth of God”.
-Matthew 4:4
Note: Yeshua is ONLY referring to the Tanach in those verses.

While I maintain that you are mistaken about Yeh’shua being Yah’hu’weh, I continue to enjoy your posts which in most cases you are spot on. If Yeh’shua were just a dude, he could not be Moshiach. He would died for his own sin.

Glad you enjoy my posts. Concerning Yeshua literally being HASHEM Himself in human flesh, yes, we shall have to agree to disagree on that point for the time being. I cannot entertain the thought that God Himself died on a cross. No, instead He appointed His son, a separate being from Himself, to suffer for the sins of the world.
