Following on the heels of yesterday’s post, I am currently discussing how the works of Messiah are reflected in the seven God-ordained Biblical Feasts.
In my last post, we gained good ground by discussing PESACH (Passover), MATZAH (Unleavened Bread), BIKKURIM (FirstFruits), SHAVUOT (Feast of Weeks or Pentecost), ROSH HASHANAH (Feast of Trumpets) and YOM KIPPUR (Day of Atonement).
Finally, today, we are going to discuss the seventh and LAST of the God-ordained Biblical Feasts…
…SUKKOT…,
…otherwise known as…
…the “Feast of Tabernacles” or…
…the “Feast of Ingathering”.
In a nutshell, this festival is all about the entry into the 1000-year Reign of Messiah when he returns.
You may have also heard this concept expressed as the Millennium Kingdom.
Although there are a ton of details we could go into, there is ONE key aspect of this festival we we should focus on.
What is this one key thing I’m talking about?
I’m talking about the Water Libation ceremony which took place at the Altar of Burnt Offering.
This was considered the grand slam finale of the Feast of Sukkot.
From an earthly perspective, the whole purpose of this feast was to petition the Lord to send abundant rain so that their crops would be watered.
In the closing moments of this feast, seven trumpets are blown three times for a total of 21 blasts and while this is happening, a Golden Pitcher of water from the spring of Siloam is carried by the High Priest through the WaterGate of the Temple Mount.
Next, the High Priest begins pouring water out from the Golden Pitcher and while he is doing this, the people shout out together “ADONAI save us now!“
So what exactly do these trumpet blasts represent?
Well, pay attention ’cause this is mighty important.
Those trumpet blasts represent the three series of the seven final judgments that God will rain upon mankind at the end of human history as we know it.
After these judgements, the Messiah will achieve total domination over the whole world, NOT just over the Holy Land.
The whole world will be governed by the very instructions in this Torah that we have been studying over the past couple of years.
There will not be one single law breaker in the Kingdom.
Again, recall the words of Messiah.
“…depart from Me,
you who practice lawlessness!”
-Matthew 7:23
And this is how things will remain for 1000 years.
There is one other amazing thing about SUKKOT.
The commemoration of this day will continue FOREVER!!!
The prophet Zechariah prophesied that this would happen.
Here are the verses…
“Finally, everyone remaining from all the nations
that came to attack Yerushalayim will go up
every year to worship the king,
Adonai-Tzva’ot, and to keep the festival of Sukkot.
If any of the families of the earth
does not go up to Yerushalayim to worship the king,
Adonai-Tzva’ot, no rain will fall on them.”
-Zechariah 14:16-17
Amazing!
It is NOT just Israel anymore.
Every gentile nation who once attacked Israel will repent and bow down to the King of Israel AND I reiterate,…
…the whole world will be governed by this VERY TORAH we have been studying.
Again, remember the words of Messiah…
“Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.”-Matthew 5:19
