“And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways and to love Him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to keep the commandments of the Lord and His statutes which I command you today for your good?”-Deuteronomy 10:12-13
In today’s post I want to point out the most important question a believer ever could ask him or herself AND…
…point out one of the most forgotten principles established in Torah, a principle that has been practically forsaken by the Christian church.
So let’s start with the first point.
The most important question is actually verse 12 of Deuteronomy, the chapter we’re currently immersed in.
As Moses is standing in front of the children of Israel, he poses the following rhetorical question to them “And now, O Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you…?“
This question as short and compact as it is contains dynamite implications.
Each and every person standing in the crowd had to answer this question for himself.
God was demanding that a personal decision be made on the issue and the enormity of that decision was HUGE!
One either decided to obey God’s Torah and receive blessings OR…
…decline to obey and experience all the curses.
Connected to this monumental question is one of the most forgotten principles found in Scriptures.
What am I referring to?
Well, right here in Scripture we have laid out for us in plain and baby simple terms the requirement NOT on how to get saved, but instead how to live AFTER we are saved.
Are you catching this man?!
Let me pose another rhetorical question to you.
Do you want to live in harmony and peace with HASHEM during the rest of your life AFTER you’ve been saved?
Or…
….is the only thing you care about is just being assured of your salvation and then afterwards continuing on with your ridiculous life without changing anything?
If so, then I’ve got news for you.
This Torah is NOT for you…
…which is the unfortunate position the gentile church has adopted.
However, on the other hand, if you have decided you want to live in harmony and peace with the Lord and receive abundant blessings in both this life and the life thereafter then gosh darn pay close attention to Moses’ reply to the most important question a believer could ever ask him or herself:
“What does the Lord your God require of you…?”
Basically, there are five answers to that incredible question.
The Lord demands that you…
…REVERE HIM…
…WALK IN HIS WAYS…
…LOVE HIM…
…SERVE HIM…
…and…
…OBEY HIS COMMANDS.
Or in a nutshell, obey His Torah man!!!
One final thing you mustn’t forget.
These instructions are ONLY for the saved, either those who are Israel or have been grafted into Israel.
This ain’t for the heathen folks!
God places no such requirements on the unbeliever to obey Him or worship Him.
This is only for believers.
And if you call Yeshua your Lord and Savior, this Torah is for YOU too!
