In typology, more than any other character in the Bible, it is Joseph and his life that foreshadows the life of Yeshua.
Looking back from the New Testament, here are six awesome ways we can see the Messiah in Joseph’s life.
PATTERN ONE:
-Joseph was in prison next to two criminals.
-On the cross, Yeshua was crucified between two criminals.
PATTERN TWO:
-According to Joseph, one prisoner perishes and one is saved.
-The same with Yeshua, one thief perishes and the other is saved.
PATTERN THREE:
-Joseph foretells the raising up after 3 days.
-Yeshua foretells his resurrecting to life again after 3 days.
PATTERN FOUR:
-Joseph tells the cupbearer to remember him after he’s raised up.
-Yeshua tells his disciples at the last supper when He is giving them the cup to remember Him.
PATTERN FIVE
-Joseph tells the cupbearer and baker that he has done nothing to be put in the dungeon.
-Pilate tells the crowd that Yeshua has done nothing to be put on the cross.
PATTERN SIX:
-Joseph had two dreams with two elements: the cupbearer’s cup and the baker’s bread
-Yeshua had two elements at the last supper: the cup and the bread
There’s even more to come in Genesis Chapter 41 which we’ll start next time.
