“When your days come to an end and you sleep with your ancestors, I will establish one of your descendants to succeed you, one of your own flesh and blood; and I will set up his rulership. He will build a house for my name, and I will establish his royal throne forever.”-2 Samuel 7:12-13
Verse 12 kicks off a series of prophetic verses that are nothing short of explosive.
The Lord promises David that not only will one of his descendants sit on the throne of Israel…
But that this ruler’s Kingdom would last forever.
There are only two words in the original Hebrew that means “forever.”
They are AD’OLAM and LE’OLAM.
These terms are usually translated into English as “eternal”, “everlasting”, “without end”, or “perpetual.”
So we need to see verse 12 for what it is.
It is a prophecy for both the near future and the future way beyond that.
Plus, there’s something else you should know about the Scripture when it speaks of the last days.
AD’OLAM or LE’OLAM means the “end of the age.”
But an important question we should ask is the end of WHICH age?
The end of the age of WHAT?
Ya feel me?
The answer is “the end of the age of mankind.”
Hmm…this is mysterious
Think about it.
If the generations of mankind are gonna end…
It means human beings as we know them will no longer exist in their present form.
And not only that…
The current heavens and earth will also be entirely transformed!
And that’s your takeaway for today.
