“He rode on a keruv and flew,
He was seen on the wings of the wind.”
-2 Samuel 22:11
In verse 11, we’re given another symbolic picture of the Lord coming down to earth.
The image depicts Him riding on the back of a Cherub or keruv in Hebrew.
We’re also told he was seen on the wings of the wind or the RUACH.
Recall that RUACH is also another word for “spirit.”
So here’s the pattern I want you to catch.
Do you recall the As-in-Heaven-so-on-Earth principle?
That’s basically what we’ve got here.
The Wilderness Tabernacle on earth was patterned after Adonai’s Temple in heaven.
And the Cherub was situated right on top of the lid of the Ark of the Covenant.
The imagery is that the Lord Himself rides above and uses the lid as His footstool.
Of course, this is all metaphorical.
Recall also that the Ark was the place where Moses communed with God.
And again, don’t overlook the reference to the spirit or the wind.
The RUACH is how the Lord manifests His presence here on earth.
Or to speak metaphorically, the RUACH or the Spirit is the means by which the Lord travels down from heaven to earth.
Are you with me here?
I love how all these God patterns keep popping up everywhere.
Now there’s one final pattern here that I don’t want you to overlook.
It all has to do with the timing of when this is happening.
Notice that what’s being described occurs when the Lord’s anger has reached the boiling point towards those who mistreat His Chosen People, Israel.
It’s at that instant when the Lord decides to strike against the demonic forces of wickedness who appear to be winning.
But it’s only an appearance.
Because them homies have another thing coming.
Let’s not nonchalantly pass over this.
We’ve got a serious God-pattern here, folks.
The Lord gets personally involved when His People are on the verge of being destroyed by the enemy.
Alrighty, let’s switch over to the takeaway.
Do you know the next time this event of the Lord riding on the Cherub will happen?
When our Lord and Savior, Messiah Yeshua, descends from the heavens to the rescue.
And who is he rescuing?
His People Israel.
Who else, man?
David is describing the great Day of the Lord here.
Done.
