“So I give thanks to you,
Adonai, among the nations;
I sing praises to your name.
He is a tower of salvation for his king;
He displays grace to his anointed,
to David and his descendants forever.”
-2 Samuel 22:50-51
David’s Psalm concludes on a prophetic note.
And it is a very inspiring one.
He says the grace the Lord showered upon him was so incredible that he couldn’t restrict his praises to only the nation of Israel.
He had to proclaim the greatness of Yahweh to the GOYIM or gentile nations as well.
This is a perfect example of repeating prophecy.
What do I mean by that?
Well, here in 2nd Samuel 22, the prophecy that YEHOVAH would be proclaimed to the nations is unfolding in one sense at a certain time.
But it would happen again in a much higher and greater sense.
When David defeated the nations, the knowledge of the God of Israel spread wide and far among the Gentiles.
However, in a later time, a royal descendant from the line of David will do the same.
We know this descendant to be Yeshua of Nazareth.
Here’s the thing.
The anointed King of Israel wasn’t really about David himself.
God used David’s victories to point to something bigger.
And it is that David’s family line would last forever and lead to the Savior, Messiah Yeshua
Done.
NEXT TIME WE BEGIN 2ND SAMUEL CHAPTER 23

this question is from way out in left field, but did jesus line of family die with him and HIS brothers and sisters, if mary had other children do we have some descendants from on down until today that can or might be traced till today …in other words did any of jesuss brothers or sisters have children that could of made jesus an uncle, and some of mary and josephs sons and daughters have people from back then be passed down till today.
Hi Tony,
Interesting question, but you’re actually addressing a different issue than what I was writing about.
The Davidic promise wasn’t about Yeshua producing descendants of His own. It was about him inheriting the throne of David and bringing that kingship to its intended fulfillment.
Whether Yeshua’s brothers or sisters had children doesn’t affect the Messianic claim at all. The prophecy concerns royal authority and covenant, not biological continuation.
David’s line reaches its goal in Messiah…
Not through offspring, but through kingship.
Ya feel me?
Be blessed.
ohhh yea i get you good sir, i was just thinking since jesus had brothers and sisters then any children HIS brothers and sister would have had would of made jesus their ” uncle ” correct ,so i was just wonderin if any kin would be alive today somewhere in this world..
tony
Yeah, in simple family terms, if Yeshua’s brothers or sisters had children, then Yeshua would be their uncle.
Scripture, however, doesn’t track or preserve any such lines, and it never treats Yeshua’s significance as resting on biological relatives or surviving kin.
The focus stays on who He is — the anointed Son of David — and on the kingdom He inaugurates, not on tracing a family tree beyond that.
So whether any relatives exist today is ultimately unknown and theologically irrelevant.
Still, you do raise an interesting question.
Be blessed!
