“With the honest,
You are honest;
But with the crooked,
You are cunning.
People afflicted,
you save;
But when your eyes are on the haughty,
You humble them.”
-2 Samuel 22:27-28
Let’s take a good look at verse 28, which says that God saves His “afflicted people.”
Or in the original Hebrew, it says the Lord saves His afflicted AM.
AM is a special Hebrew word specifically referring to God’s chosen people.
We’re being told here that it pleased the Lord to save David and give him power over all of Israel’s enemies.
Why?
Because David is part of the afflicted AM.
He is part of Israel.
And it pleases the Creator of the Universe to save Israel…
And all of those who have been grafted into Israel.
I think a lot of people forget that principle.
The Lord saves His people.
He does NOT save those who are not His.
Ya feel me here?
Now this doesn’t mean that He doesn’t sometimes communicate with the Gentiles.
He does.
This also doesn’t mean that He won’t help an uncircumcised person who is in distress.
However, that’ll only happen if it serves a larger divine purpose connected to helping His People, Israel.
NEVER forget that point.
God ONLY rescues His People and those grafted into the covenants He has only made with Israel.
There ain’t no separate covenant with some uncircumcised and unkosher gentile nation…
And there NEVER will be.
Done.
