We’re continuing our discussion about how Tziva and Mephibosheth point to Messiah’s future relationship with His own people, the Jews, and the eventual grafting in of the Gentile church.
So lemme start by sharing an interesting fact.
Starting with, I think either Ignatius or Clement, did you know that all of the Early Church Fathers were Gentiles?
Ain’t that interesting?
Never mind that James was Yeshua’s half-brother.
And never mind that Paul referred to himself as an Israelite of Israelites.
Or that Catholics call Peter the first pope (what a freakin’ joke!).
The bottom line is that the church wasn’t even considered the church until it became a thoroughly uncircumcised gentile religious institution.
So if you ever wonder why Jews see Christianity as a gentile religion, the facts I just shared with you are the reason why.
And it gets worse.
What was originally a purely Jewish movement, once it became overly populated with Gentiles, became anti-Semitic really quick.
As I shared yesterday, the early gentile church accused the Jews of being bloodthirsty Christ killers.
They openly stated that the Jews have no right to worship their own Jewish Messiah.
They even went so far as to claim that Christ was now a gentile Messiah who belonged to the gentile church.
Naturally, no Jew in his or her right mind would ever in a million years consider joining such a hateful, anti-Semitic institution.
I mean, if you were Jewish, would you?
My answer to that question is “HEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLL NO HOMIE!
I think a lot of folks tend to overlook an important fact.
While it is true that certain members of the Jewish leadership (the chief priests, scribes, and elders) opposed Yeshua because He challenged their authority and traditions, it was the gentile Romans who actually killed Christ.
It was the gentile Romans who mercilessly tortured and whipped Yeshua to the point where he no longer looked human.
It was the gentile Romans who pounded those nails into Yeshua’s wrists and feet.
It was a gentile Roman who thrust that spear into Yeshua’s side to make sure he was dead.
And all of this was happening in front of Yeshua’s followers and disciples, who helplessly looked on in despair.
Now, here’s the real kicker.
Wanna know what the common point was between all of Yeshua’s followers and disciples?
Practically, every one of them was Jewish.
So to castigate a whole group of people as Christ Killers, when the vast majority of Yeshua’s followers, including all of His disciples, were Jewish, is a lie of massive distortion
Are you feeeeeeeeeelllllling me here?
Alrighty, let’s tie this back to the plain-as-day parallels contained in 2nd Samuel 19.
Boy, I’m telling you, man!
The prophetic elements simply leap off the pages of Scripture and grab you by the lapels, begging for attention.
So to recap…
Mephibosheth was the true Hebrew heir to the estate, and King David, God’s anointed, came to restore him.
But then some gentile homie named Tziva arrived on the scene.
This was an uncircumcised man who already had the privilege of sharing in the blessings of Israel.
But I guess that wasn’t enough for him.
He wanted more.
So he schemed, twisted the truth, and lied to King David, saying Mephibosheth had turned against him.
Tziva’s real goal?
To take the estate for himself and win the king’s favor.
In the end, he grabbed what didn’t belong to him, and now, all of a sudden, we’ve got some unkosher gentile arrogantly prancing around in a Hebrew house like it’s his master when he doesn’t own the damn thing.
And that’s where we’re at today, historically.
We have an anti-Semitic institution known as the gentile Church that has stolen the inheritance God gave to the Jews and claimed it exclusively for themselves.
Then they began spreading the lie that Jews no longer have a part in the Messiah’s estate, and that God’s anointed king was finished with them.
This is a direct violation of the Biblical principle that the gospel is to go to the Jews first.
The gentile church, in its abominations, has reversed the divine order of things.
They have accused the true Master of the estate (Israel and the Jews) of being lame and set aside.
In other words, the wild branches are now claiming they are the Olive Tree.
I believe Paul predicted this would happen when he said:
“So you will say,
‘Branches were broken off
so that I might be grafted in.’
True, but so what?
They were broken off
because of their lack of trust.
However, you keep your place
only because of your trust.
So don’t be arrogant;
on the contrary, be terrified!
For if God did not spare the
natural branches,
he certainly won’t spare you!“
-Romans 11:19-21
In case you think I’m making some of this up, I’ll close with some direct quotes by a man widely considered to be the Father of the Protestant Movement: Martin Luther.
This is what he said in his book titled, On the Jews and Their Lies (1543):
“First, their synagogues should be set on fire, and whatever does not burn up should be covered or spread over with dirt so that no one may ever be able to see a cinder or stone of it.
Secondly, their homes should likewise be broken down and destroyed.
Thirdly, they should be deprived of their prayer books and Talmuds, in which such idolatry, lies, cursing, and blasphemy are taught.
Fourthly, their rabbis must be forbidden under threat of death to teach any more.
Fifthly, passport and traveling privileges should be absolutely forbidden to the Jews.
Sixthly, they ought to be stopped from usury, and all their cash and treasure of silver and gold ought to be taken from them and put aside for safekeeping.
Seventhly, let the young and strong Jews and Jewesses be given flail, axe, hoe, spade, distaff, or spindle, and let them earn their bread by the sweat of their noses.”
Finally, you wanna know who used these quotes to justify his persecution of the Jews?
Ever heard of a homie by the name of Adolph Hitler?
That’s right.
The Nazis reprinted Luther’s writings in the 1930s to fuel their hate-filled propaganda when they were just coming into power.
You can trust that everything I just said is pure documented fact.
The next time we meet, we’ll see what happens when the King returns.
P.S. The portrait above is of Martin Luther (l. 1483-1546 CE) by Lucas Cranach the Elder, 1529 CE. The painting hangs in the choir of St. Anne’s Church, Augsburg, next to a portrait of the Elector Johann Friedrich of Saxony.

Really hit the nail on the head with this one, Rich!
When I used to teach a “Messianics 101” course at the messianic synagogue where I was first saved (and headed a number of different ministries, as well as being on the Council and acting as Rabbi-pro-tem when we needed a new Rabbi), I used to compare the Christian church to the old Bugs Bunny cartoon.
Bugs was always being chased by Elmer Fudd, and at one time Elmer chases Bugs onto a tree branch. So, here is Bugs, trapped at the end of a branch, with Elmer on the other end of the branch, nearest the tree trunk, and he is sawing away at the part of the branch Bugs is trapped on.
Well, what happens then is after he saws all the way through, the tree begins to fall and the branch Bugs is on miraculously stays floating in the air.
It’s funny in a cartoon, but this examplifies exactly what Christianity believes for themselves- they were originally part of the Tree of Life which is Judaism and the Torah, and they thought by cutting off the Jews (which is the tree) they would remain unaffected sitting on their branch!
Hey, Christinity! It only works that way in a cartoon.
It was a Jew who “Betrayed” the Messiah, it was the Jewish High Priest who had Jesus arrested, it was the Jews King who sent the Messiah to Pilate. It was the Jewish Nation that rejected what the Gentile Christian Church received by Faith. Please get your story correct. .
