Yesterday, I brought up the principle of KAL V’HOMER, or light and heavy.
The whole idea is that in a fallen world, we are going to confront situations where we will be forced to break one of God’s commands to obey another.
In other words, we’ll have to choose between lesser and greater sins.
The classic example is breaking the Shabbat in order to save life.
For instance, a doctor or ambulance driver who chooses to work due to a medical emergency.
“Life” or LA-CHAIM is the foundation of true Biblical religion.
Yeshua, quoting the Torah when asked what the greatest commandment was, said:
“Love the Lord your God
with all your heart
and with all your soul
and with all your mind
and with all your strength.’
The second is this:
‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
There is no commandment greater than these.”
-Mark 12:30-31
So the woman at Bahurim made the right choice.
It was also a bold decision.
She hid the High Priest’s sons, who were running to warn David and save his life from Absalom, David’s own evil son.
When the soldiers came knocking, she had only two options.
She could tell the truth and hand them over…
Or lie to protect them.
She chose to lie.
But in doing so, she saved innocent lives and stood with God’s chosen king instead of corrupt rulers.
She picked the lesser wrong to stop a far greater evil.
So the bottom line, and this is your takeaway for today, is that our world is broken.
It doesn’t matter whether you’re a believer or not.
We will struggle to fully obey the Lord until the Messiah returns.
But here’s the good news.
Yeshua already paid the price for every sin, big or small, until that day arrives.
And the God we worship ain’t some cold rule-keeper.
He’s merciful.
He sees the heart behind His commands and the hearts of those who truly want to follow Him.
So, until this fallen world we live in is perfected, we’re going to struggle with perfectly obeying God’s commands because there will be times when we have to choose which command to obey based on which one is lighter and heavier.
Ya feel me?
Oh, and by the way, this also exposes the falsehood of Christianity’s teaching that all sins carry equal weight in God’s eyes.
I know it sounds ridiculous, but the gentile church really teaches that there are no such things as lesser and greater sins.
Stealing a Snickers bar is on the same level as murder, according to what they say.
At face value, I think you can see how absurd that proposition is.
Anyway, we’ll leave it at that today.

Again, I notice you haven’t responded to my last two messages. You ran out of words, did you? Well, here I go again, you called out Gentiles and Christians as though you’re not one of us. Not to mention your Jewish friends are the ones who made the mistake of crucifying the Messiah, the Christ! Ops, did I say Christ? Sorry to offend your weak conscience.
You’re digging a black hole; you’re going to pay hell to get out of it. If only you would bridle your tongue.
Perhaps you should understand that your Messiah. Christ is the one who started the NT Church under the Power of the Holy Ghost. So, if you think that the “Church” in the NT got it wrong, it was the Gentiles who spread the Gospel to the whole world, not the Jews. Mind you, it’s fellows like yourself that perverted the Gospel, confusing those who messed up with those of us who know the truth, and teach it in Spirit and Truth. You only blame the Gentile Church. Now you’ve thrown out the Man-Child with the Dragon. If you can’t see that every nation and nationality has tampered with the Gospel, that doesn’t mean that there isn’t a true Church/Congregation/Assembly, whatever you choose to call it. The bottom line it’s the Body of Christ.
May God forgive your arrogant soul.
Hey Anthony, As mentioned, I’m happy to have a Zoom call. Reach out to me on Facebook (Rich Oka) or richoka7@gmail.com. Thanks!
