Yesterday, I talked about how we let our subjective notions of right and wrong dictate our morality instead of Scripture.
Let me give you an example from Christianity.
For Christians, God possesses only one chief attribute: love.
They feel that once we entered the New Testament era with the advent of Yeshua…
All of God’s less attractive characteristics, such as his wrath and judgment, fell by the wayside.
So, how does this aberrational theology play out in practical terms?
For example, if two gay people love each other, it’s perfectly fine for them to marry.
Why?
Because love trumps all.
Or some folks will say that if we truly love others…
It shouldn’t matter whether a person believes in Allah, Yehovah, or Shiva or whatever…
As long as they believe in some kind of higher power…
They should be accepted and loved with all of the gooey, sticky, maple-syrupy sentimental loving nonsense you can muster.
Or how about a woman who wishes to murder the growing child in her womb through an abortion procedure?
Society’s perverted definition of love says she should be given that freedom.
Or how about a criminal found guilty of murder?
Again, society’s perverted definition of love says he should NOT be given the death penalty…
Instead, he should be allowed to live out the rest of his natural years in a comfy prison cell paid for by your tax dollars.
This type of thinking is based on the idea that God only cares about our desires and making us happy.
This is also the basis for the unscriptural “prosperity gospel”, by the way.
Alrighty, let’s move on to Judaism.
For Judaism (especially Reform Judaism)…
God’s chief characteristic can be summed up in one word: humanitarianism.
What’s the basic doctrine of humanitarianism?
Simple.
Enemies should be treated as friends.
That’s why Israel has historically tried to make peace with nations that are hellbent on destroying it, no matter the cost.
It’s never gonna work.
And no, what Jesus said about loving your enemies has absolutely NOTHING to do with this situation.
He was talking about loving YOUR enemies over petty matters in society…
Not loving God’s enemies when they’re out to destroy you and take over your land.
I believe there’s also a satanic agenda behind the humanitarian idea.
It implies God’s people should stop seeing themselves as chosen.
Why?
Because it breeds racism and feelings of superiority.
Anyway, the bottom line is this.
Not a single one of the fluffy feel-good philosophies I just mentioned has even a sliver of Scriptural backing.
Zero.
Nada.
They’ve got as much divine truth as a fortune cookie.
All these ideas do is drag people further away from God.
It’s the same sad rerun we saw with David and the rest of Israel back in the time of the Kings…
Lots of pontificating speeches…
Fancy ceremonies…
And public piety…
While quietly doing whatever the hell they wanted…
And slapping God’s name on it.
Ya feel me?
CONNECTING THIS TEACHING TO THE NEW TESTAMENT
“’Not everyone who says to Me,
‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven,
but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.
Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord,
have we not prophesied in Your name,
cast out demons in Your name,
and done many wonders in Your name?’
And then I will declare to them,
‘I never knew you; depart from Me,
you who practice lawlessness!’”
-Matthew 7:21-23
Amen!
And a hearty AMEN right back to you!
Be blessed!
