“’Please,’ she said, ‘let the king swear by Adonai your God that the blood avengers won’t do any more destroying, so they won’t destroy my son.’ He said, ‘As Adonai lives, not one of your son’s hairs will fall to the ground.’”-2 Samuel 14:11
Yesterday, we determined that David was WRONG for pardoning the murder the woman of Tekoa’s son committed.
Why?
Because he let his feelings of pity for the woman override what the Torah clearly says should be done.
And that is that her son should be put to death.
Now, I hope you understand what I’m about to say here.
The sin David committed in letting a murderer escape the death penalty is the same sin a large segment of both modern Christianity and Judaism commits today.
In Christianity’s case, they say that with the advent of the new covenant, the only remaining attribute of God is love.
And if God is only love…
Then He would never demand the execution of anyone…
Even that of a murderer.
That is the result of their twisted logic.
It’s this exact logic that leads to…
Pastors performing gay marriages in the name of Christ…
Or churches siding with the Palestinians over who owns that holy block of real estate in the Middle East.
Their anti-scriptural logic argues that to execute a man is nothing but human revenge…
And a heart operating out of love would never seek revenge.
Therefore, we must not execute murderers.
We must forgive them instead.
And we must show love to those who “naturally” have homosexual love for each other.
After all, God created them that way.
Can you see how screwed up things get when we let this faulty theology that God is only love infest our way of thinking?
Of course, one of the chief attributes of God is love.
But that ain’t His only attribute.
He is also a God of justice.
And above all…
He is a HOLY God.
He cannot and will not let sin slide without consequence.
If He could’ve let sin slide…
He never would have sent His son to the cross in the first place.
Ya feel me?
The next time we’ll discuss how modern Judaism falters in this area with their incessant, overriding focus on humanitarianism.
So remember, love without law is LAWLESSNESS.
Stay frosty, homies.

Human being pridefulness is the most destructive aspect with regard to people understanding of who and what God is.
It is our pride that makes us want to compartmentalize God into what we want him to be, instead of recognizing that he is the ultimate authority.
Hey- God created everything! This is his game, not ours, and he tells us exactly what to expect from him when we play by his rules, and what to expect when we cheat and reject his rules.
The winner’s circle is the best place in creation to be, and the penalty box is the worst.
The truth people don’t want to accept is that this life is only a warm-up, and the real game is eternal.
God cannot go against his own rules, so even though he desires to forgive us (Ez.18:23), he wlil not allow sin to go unpunished.
Forgiveness of sin is not about getting away with anything- it is about our eternal condition. All sin will have consequences, and the sad thing is that there is always collateral damage from sin, and that is to those we love and care about.
When we sin, it is like throwing a rock into still water: the splash from the rock falling is what we have to deal with, but all the little circles that extend outward for a long time are what others have to deal with.
Amen, Steven. Great complement to this article. Thanks for sharing.
