David’s gotta a big problem on his hands.
Bathsheba is pregnant.
What’s gonna happen when her husband finds out about this?
If David wasn’t the king of Israel, he surely would’ve been put to death.
But nobody has the right to execute the king…
Except God of course.
What David does next is something I’m sure we’re all guilty of.
He tried to cover up his sin.
We’ve all done this in one form or another.
We tell a lie and then we have to say another lie to cover up the first lie we told, and then we tell another lie after that.
Or we cheat on our spouse and assume everything is gonna be all hunky dory as long as nobody finds out.
I’m ashamed to admit when I was in middle school, I used to rip off candy bars from the local 7-Eleven.
Once I got home safely with the goods in my jacket pocket, I assumed I was in the clear.
There’s only one problem with that line of thinking.
You’re overlooking the fact that God sees everything anyway.
You’re not fooling Him.
He knows about all of the people you slept with behind your husband or wife’s back.
He knows about all of the porno binges you went on.
He knows about all of the pirated courses you purchased from unscrupulous sellers.
He knows about every hateful thought you’ve held toward another human being in your life.
He knows EVERYTHING.
Yet despite this.
We prioritize earthly consequences over divine ones.
We think as long as nobody here on planet Earth finds out, we’ve dodged a bullet.
Well, as we see with David, even the King of Israel fell prey to this faulty line of thinking.
Here’s your takeaway for today.
Maybe it’s high time we get our priorities straight.
Instead of caring so much about what the world thinks…
Maybe we should start caring about what God thinks.
Imagine if we lived our lives with that as a priority…
We wouldn’t have to deal with the burden of guilt that inevitably arises from all of the sins we commit…
We could go forth boldly with confidence in this life and the next!
What could be more awesome than that?
My answer?
NOTHING!

“For there is nothing hidden
that will not be disclosed,
and nothing concealed that
will not be made known
and brought to light.”
