I finished off yesterday’s post by talking about how there is a geopolitical war taking place in the United States.
There are two sides to this battle.
One side harbors an isolationist mentality and desires to erect a wall between them and those who they perceive as outsiders.
The other side wants to erase all borders and embrace everything and everyone for the sake of unity.
I concluded by saying unification can be both good and evil depending on who is doing the unifying.
Well, here’s the thing, not long after King David, the leaders and people of Israel faced similar issues.
The Israelites had different ideas about what they wanted for their nation, and these strong feelings led to a civil war.
After King Solomon died, Israel split into two separate kingdoms.
But this didn’t happen overnight.
Undetected, God was slowly but surely working quietly behind the scenes, guiding events according to His plan.
Even though Israel has always been at the center of His plan, God was also making moves that would eventually involve the whole planet, even though the nations of the world were oblivious that they were being played.
Everyone seems to be aware that Assyria and Babylonia conquered parts of Israel and sent the Israelites into exile in different stages.
But that’s just a small part of the big picture.
During King David’s time, Egypt was starting to regain its power after a difficult period.
Other nations in the Middle East and Northern Africa were also emerging as major powers.
These nations would all play a part in God’s plan for salvation.
So in bite-sized chunks, I wanna take a look at what was happening in the nations surrounding Israel while David was in the process of becoming king.
This is important because not only would David have been keenly aware of these events…
They impacted the many choices he made, much of what we’re going to read about in 2nd Samuel.
So let’s start by breaking down the ancient world into the five main regions at the time.
They are Mesopotamia, Egypt, North Syria, the Phoenician Coast, and Canaan.
This ain’t a comprehensive list.
Of course, there were other regions, but these five were the most important for Israel.
So we’re gonna focus on them.
Ya feel me?
Alright, let’s switch over to the takeaway.
The takeaway is simply this.
It doesn’t matter what nation you’re living in today.
You could be living in Japan, New Zealand, or Zimbabwe.
It doesn’t matter.
God has a plan for your country.
And by necessity, it involves His Chosen Nation Israel.
Jerusalem may now be the capital of Israel.
But never forget Jerusalem is destined to become the capital of the ENTIRE world.
This means it doesn’t matter what nation you’re living in now…
One day, you will be forced to recognize that God has made Jerusalem the center of planet Earth…
And where Messiah will return to establish his throne and rule the world in strict accordance with God’s Torah.
Are you feeeeeeeeeeeeeeeling me here?
See ya all next time.
CONNECTING THIS TEACHING TO THE NEW TESTAMENT
“And he carried me away
in the Spirit to a great,
high mountain, and showed
me the holy city Jerusalem
coming down out of
heaven from God.”
-Revelation 21:10

Feeling ya loud and clear here in Kisumu, Kenya.
For any kingdom to stand, there are three ‘things’ which are very important :
1. The King
2. The territory /land
3. The Capital city.
Surely Jerusalem has played a vital role in the ancient Israel, during Messiah’s time on earth, and the future coming kingdom as athested in the following verses…
1. Isaiah 2:2-3
“In the last days, the mountain of Elohim house shall be established as the highest of the mountains, and shall be lifted up above the hills; and all nations shall flow to it. Many peoples shall come and say, ‘Come, let us go up to the mountain of Elohim , to the house of the Elohim of Jacob, that he may teach us his ways and that we may walk in his paths.’ For out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of Yahweh from Jerusalem.”
2. Zechariah 14:16
“Then everyone who survives of all the nations that have come against Jerusalem shall go up year after year to worship the King, Elohim of hosts, and to keep the Feast of Booths.”
3. Micah 4:7
“And the lame I will make the remnant, and those who were cast off, a strong nation; and Elohim will reign over them in Mount Zion from this time forth and forevermore.”
4. Revelation 21:2
“And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from Elohim, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.”
5. Psalm 122:6-7
“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem! ‘May they be secure who love you! Peace be within your walls and security within your towers!'”
These verses highlight the future importance of Jerusalem as a central place of worship and peace in the world.
Keep ’em coming @Richoka.
