Today we will finish the Book of 1st Samuel.
What an AMAZING adventure, don’t you think?!
We witnessed the rise and fall of Israel’s first king…
And the ascent of Israel’s next king is about to begin.
As we exit this book, Israel resembles the United States today (August 2024).
It is a ship without a captain, drifting along in a sea of chaos.
The Philistines have gained control, and Israel needs a Savior.
Their first king is dead, and they don’t have a new king yet.
We’re left with a sense of unease.
We understand that God has a plan and is preparing the throne for David.
Yet, the people of Israel didn’t know this.
So we’re thrust into an atmosphere of uncertainty right alongside them.
Many questions are left unanswered.
How and when will God install David as king?
Especially since the Philistines have conquered a majority of the Promised Land along with its Hebrew inhabitants.
These are the same issues the coming Messiah will face.
We’re informed a Deliverer from the House of David is coming.
But how and when will this happen?
We have no idea, but that’s why we have to have faith.
This leads us to our takeaway for today.
I’ve already talked about this but it’s good to repeat it.
At the close of the 1st Book of Samuel, Israel is in a state of confusion.
There is a vacuum of leadership and the future is uncertain.
Now, your current life situation may be the same.
Maybe you wake up every morning worried about your future.
You may be dealing with health issues, marriage problems, or money challenges.
Whatever it is, you feel overwhelmed.
No matter where you look, there doesn’t seem to be a way out.
Well, we’re going to see that David also faced seemingly impossible-to-overcome circumstances in his rise to the throne.
But with God’s help, he overcame them.
Likewise, no matter how bleak your circumstances seem…
God can and will deliver you.
And when He does, it will probably happen miraculously.
Recall the parting of the Red Sea at Sinai…
Or Gideon’s 300-person army emerging victorious over a force much larger…
Or God resurrecting His Son from the grave…
It appears that working miracles is the standard and not the exception when it comes to how God operates.
So expect miracles…
And be of good cheer!
See ya all next time!
CONNECTING THIS TEACHING TO THE NEW TESTAMENT
“We are hard-pressed on every side,
but not crushed; perplexed,
but not in despair; persecuted,
but not abandoned; struck down,
but not destroyed.
We always carry around in our
body the death of Yeshua,
so that the life of Yeshua may also
be revealed in our body.
For we who are alive are always being
given over to death for Messiah’s sake,
so that his life may also be
revealed in our mortal body.
So then, death is at work in us,
but life is at work in you.”
-2 Corinthians 4:8-12
