Following the October 7th terrorist attacks, the anti-Semitism I see in the world today horrifies me.
As I said before, this is nothing less than the spirit of Amalek rearing its ugly head in various forms.
It doesn’t matter whether it’s UN officials who say the Holy Land must be divvied up with a people whose sole purpose is the utter destruction of the people of Israel…
Or the pro-Palestinian protests on college campuses chanting “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free”…
Or the violence against innocent men, women, and children who are attacked simply because of their Jewish background.
All of these manifestations are the spirit of Amalek regardless of their ethnic background.
I’d say, Norman Finkelstein, whose parents were holocaust survivors no less, embodies the spirit of Amalek with all of his anti-Israel rhetoric.
On his Substack, he wrote that Hamas’ actions “warms every fiber of my soul” and compared the October 7 attacks to the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising.
What sickens me is that Amalek always preys on the innocent and weak.
This appears to be their chief characteristic.
We witnessed this despicable behavior in Amalek’s first dealings with Israel during the exodus.
Without mercy, they attacked the rear of the column marching out of Egypt where the elderly, the sick, the lame, the pregnant women, and the young children were concentrated.
Here in 1st Samuel Chapter 30, the same thing occurred.
Amalek waited until David and his men were gone and then came and attacked women, the children, the sick and the lame, and the elderly.
The same thing happened on October 7th.
It wasn’t just the young attendees at the outdoor music festival called “Supernova Sukkot Gathering” who were killed or taken hostage during the assault.
Hamas militants also kidnapped several elderly individuals as well as women and children.
This was the spirit of Amalek revealing itself in full force.
Unfortunately, October 7th won’t be the last time the wicked spirit of Amalek manifests itself in our world.
In the last days, speaking of the gentile nations who are against Israel, God says:
“‘I am against you, Gog, chief prince of Meshekh and Tuval. I will turn you around, put hooks in your jaws, and bring you out with all your army, horses and horsemen, all completely equipped, a great horde with breastplates and shields, all wielding swords. Paras, Ethiopia, and Put are with them, all with breastplates and helmets; Gomer with all its troops; the house of Togarmah in the far reaches of the north, with all its troops — many peoples are with you.”-Ezekiel 38:3-6
The Lord then goes on to say:
“When that day comes, thoughts will well up in your mind, and you will devise a sinister scheme. You will say, ‘I am going to invade this land of unwalled villages; I will take by surprise these people who are at peace, living securely, all in places without walls, bars or gates.'”–Ezekiel 38:10-11
So we see that even in the last days, the gentile nations who embody the spirit of Amalek will devise in their hearts to attack Israel when they are weak and vulnerable.
Fortunately, our God will use this very characteristic against the Amalek-possessed nations to lure them to their own destruction.
