From today I’m going to begin a little study series called “How To Recognize An Apostate Church Today”.
The reason why is because this topic connects directly to Hannah’s prayer…
It also connects directly to the 7 Letters of Revelation…
Which connects back to Hannah’s prayer.
One of my biggest pet peeves when it comes to studying Scripture is discerning exactly how it can be applied to our lives today.
That’s right homies.
I don’t view Scripture study as just some historical exercise to learn about what happened in the past.
Nope, as far as I’m concerned, if we can’t apply it to our situation today, it’s useless.
So let’s get started by discussing the institution of the Priesthood as it existed in Hannah’s day.
To put it mildly, the Priesthood at this time had turned into a joke…
It was a Ponzi scheme that had no spiritual purpose or interest in serving God.
Now doesn’t that sound familiar as all hell?
Because let’s face it…
Most congregations today have become nothing more or less than ego-driven Saturday or Sunday social clubs…
Most folks just show up to show off their kids and hint at how much more successful they are than everybody else at the congregation.
Nobody could care less about serving God or studying Scripture.
And in the book of Revelations, a similar situation is portrayed in the 7 letters concerning the “priesthood” of Believers.
These letters describe how the body of believers were being manipulated and deceived by the institutional church for a role different than God’s original intention (usually for their money) for them.
The people had been swayed by the outward appearance of religion…
But underneath all of the window dressing there was no substance.
Any divine or spiritual purpose that used to exist had faded away.
The 7 letters speak of how the Messianic congregations used to be on the right track…
But each in their own way got derailed…
While other congregations who remained faithful suffered condemnation by the apostate churches for not following in their wicked ways.
In these letters we’re given 7 different types of churches we’re to be on guard against.
We’ll take a look at these models in detail the next time we meet.
This should be interesting.
