“Then Hannah prayed; she said:
‘My heart exults in Adonai!
My dignity has been restored by Adonai!
I can gloat over my enemies,
because of my joy at your saving me.'”
1 Samuel 2:1
If you ever wanted proof the breaking up of the Scriptures into different chapters was a random thing…
And was NOT done according to any logical rhyme and reason, the beginning of 1 Samuel Chapter 2 is your evidence…
Because if the truth be told, the first 10 verses that kick off this chapter should really be placed at the end of what is now 1 Samuel Chapter One.
The reason is because they take place during Samuel’s dedication to the Lord and Priesthood.
Or to put it another way…
The prayer at the beginning of Chapter 2 is really the continuation of Hannah’s last words in Chapter 1 when she said…
“Therefore I have entrusted him to Adonai,
as long as he lives he is entrusted to Adonai”.
There is zero time lapse between the end of chapter 1 and the end of chapter 2.
But because they’re broken up, it gives the illusion there was a time lapse.
Now there’s a few things you should know about the first 10 verses of Samuel Chapter 2.
These verses are so famous they were given their own special title.
They’re called “Hannah’s Prayer”…
Or “Hannah’s Song”.
Here’s what else you should know.
These 10 verses serve as the foundational framework for not just the books of Samuel but also for the two books of the Kings.
And it doesn’t end there.
Hannah’s Prayer or Song also serves as the foundation for ALL of Holy Scripture here on afterwards.
I’m as serious as a sermon.
These 10 little verses we’re about to dive into are just as foundational as the SHEMA, the 10 Words (otherwise known as the 10 Commandments) and the 7 Noachide Laws.
I’m amazed at how little known this prayer is…
I mean it is literally jam-packed with theological treasures that are profound, practical and prophetic.
So stay tuned!
Because you’re in for a real theological treat!
