“Sha’ul sent messengers to capture David. But when they saw the group of prophets prophesying, with Sh’mu’el standing and leading them, the Spirit of God fell on Sha’ul’s messengers; and they too began prophesying.”-1 Samuel 19:20
Okay, so let’s answer the quiz question I posed yesterday.
The question was about what mysterious power overtook Saul’s men that suddenly caused them to start prophesying.
Unless you’re well-schooled in the Torah, you have no hope of ever knowing the answer.
Fortunately, you’re reading this blog article.
This means in the next three minutes or so, you’re gonna instantly know more than any Christian pastor, preacher, or teacher on this topic.
So let’s get started.
First, we learn in the Torah that both holiness and uncleanness are contagious.
These qualities can spread from one human to another, from one object to another, from a human to an object, and vice versa.
For example, the tools used in the Holy Temple carried a degree of holiness that only allowed a priest to touch and use them.
This meant great care was taken to ensure a common person or common object did NOT come into physical contact with the Holy Temple instruments.
Another example is what happened when a Hebrew became unclean…
Maybe he had a nocturnal emission…
Or maybe he accidentally touched a dead body…
Or maybe he came down with TZARAT ( a skin infection, NOT leprosy).
Regardless, he had to be separated from the rest of the population.
Why?
Because he could easily transmit his defilement to other people or things through physical contact.
Now I’ve been talking about contamination that happens in the physical realm…
But here’s the thing.
The same principles and rules apply in the spiritual realm as well.
We’re told the prophets of NAIOTH were speaking the Word of God.
But what exactly were they saying?
Were they quoting Scripture or something?
I don’t think so.
In this context, they must have been speaking the truth about David’s true identity and how he was the anointed NAGID or king-in-waiting.
This Word was so powerful that when Saul and his men came into “contact” with this holy truth, they were rendered helpless.
God’s Word had infected them so to speak.
Once that happened they no longer had the power to carry out their evil intentions to kill David.
Such is the power of God’s Word.
So this is the spiritual counterpart to the physical contamination that can occur from object to object, from human to object, and from human and human.
The only difference is the spiritual realm is much more powerful than the physical.
And that’s your takeaway for today.
God’s Word and Scripture are simply that powerful.
Anyone who has been born again and experienced the power of the Holy Spirit knows exactly what I’m talking about.
I’ve been blogging through God’s Word for over ten years now…
And I can testify that Scripture has transformed my heart and mind over the years…
I feel like I have such a strong foundation (much more than churchgoers who only read the New Testament), that NOTHING can stop me from achieving God’s Will for my life.
So that’s the answer to yesterday’s question.
The effect of God’s Word was what rendered Saul and his men helpless to carry out their wicked plans that day…
And that’s why you should never worry about what your enemies can do to you if you are in God’s Word…
They will be rendered impotent and unable to hurt you.
I leave you with these inspiring words from the prophet Isaiah:
“No weapon formed
against you shall prosper,
And every tongue which rises
against you in judgment
You shall condemn.
This is the heritage of the
servants of the Lord,
And their righteousness is from Me,”
Says the Lord.”
-Isaiah 54:17

Very helpful information about how Holiness and defilement work. Thank you.

Happy you found this enlightening Darnnell.
To me, the most inspiring thing is just how powerful God’s Word is…and how it can positively affect our lives when we allow it to INFECT us and then AFFECT us.
Be blessed!
