At this point in the Scriptures, the Holy Spirit of God has left King Saul.
God’s Spirit was not only the source of wisdom for the Lord’s earthly ruler, but it was also the provider of a stable mind.
This left Saul an incapacitated man.
Without a sound mind to tackle the many challenges any ruler of a nation faces, Saul’s ability to lead deteriorated.
Now, it’s important to note that when Saul lost this divine source of energy and enlightenment, it’s not like his soul became an empty storage container.
We’re told God’s Spirit of peace and enlightenment was immediately replaced by a spirit that brought evil.
This leads to the principle I wanted to introduce.
There is no such thing as an empty human soul that exists in a vacuum.
A human being’s soul is either influenced by God’s Holy Spirit or influenced by the evil one.
There ain’t no neutral spiritual equivalent of Switzerland when it comes to our souls.
And yes, this even includes atheists.
Ya feel me?
Every human being walking around on planet Earth today either has God’s Holy Spirit or something else.
And if it’s something else, the results of that person’s life ain’t gonna be pretty.
As the French mathematician, physicist, inventor, writer, and Christian philosopher Blaise Pascal said:
“There is a God-shaped vacuum in the heart of each man that cannot be satisfied by any created thing but only by God the Creator, made known through Jesus Christ.”
So you either surrender to the Spirit of God in your life…
Or end up becoming an idolator who worships money and/or sex…which is really where the vast humanity is today.
Over and out homies.
CONNECTING THIS TEACHING TO THE NEW TESTAMENT
“No one can serve two masters.
Either you will hate the one
and love the other,
or you will be devoted to
the one and despise the other.
You cannot serve
both God and money.”
-Matthew 6:24
“Whoever is not with
me is against me,
and whoever does not
gather with me scatters”
-Matthew 12:30
