Do you know what’s useful about studying Saul’s character?
It brings us face-to-face with the nature of obedience.
Looking at Saul’s life forces us to ask difficult questions like…
“Is obedience to God’s laws and commands even required longer?”
“Is God okay with partial obedience as long as we’re sincere?”
“Do we have the freedom to decide for ourselves which of God’s commands to obey or not obey?”
These are tough questions to answer…
Especially for the gentile church because they take such a casual attitude towards God’s holy laws.
These questions are also challenging because it’s in our human nature to wanna overlook what God’s Word says about the sin in our lives.
That was Saul’s problem.
He insisted that although he didn’t obey every specific detail of the Law of Herem (the Law of the Ban), his position was that he obeyed most of God’s instructions, and that should’ve been enough.
Sounds familiar, doesn’t it?
Saul assumed since his intentions were good, God would be okay with his partial obedience.
The audacity of his defiance is quite amazing if you think about it.
Saul literally saw nothing wrong in his failure to destroy the war booty his men had captured from the Amalekites.
He was so confident he hadn’t committed any personal sin.
And when Samuel called him on the rug for his sin, what was Saul’s response?
He blamed it on the people.
After the war, his men wanted some of the captured treasures, and Saul didn’t wanna disappoint them.
But here’s the thing.
As God’s supreme earthly leader, Saul’s loyalty was to be to the Lord first…
And if that ended up disappointing some folks, well then, so be it!
Now, I don’t know if you realized it, but we’ve encountered yet another attribute of an ungodly ruler: someone more concerned about what the world thinks than what the WORD says.
So that’ll be your takeaway for today.
In a world where everyone is always seeking social approval before taking action or making decisions on pretty much anything, I’d like to encourage you to change the source of your motivation.
Instead of being triggered and driven by the world, surrender to God and be driven by His Word.
At the end of the day, that’s what will lead to true fulfillment and success on this side of heaven.
Ya feel me?

So what would be the sacrifice of today? Because sacrifice is obedience to Torah? I may be way off course???? Thank you in advance.

Trust in Messiah and obedience to His commandments.
This verse from the book of Revelations explains it well I think:
“This calls for patient endurance on the part of the people of God who keep his commands and remain faithful to Yeshua.”-Revelations 14:12
