At this point in our study of 1st Samuel, there’s an important Hebrew word I want to remind you of.
It is NAGID or נָגִיד.
Strong’s Hebrew concordance tells us the word means a leader, ruler, or prince.
Now, those definitions aren’t necessarily wrong…
But they ain’t necessarily right either…
The definition of NAGID that I want you to burn into your brain is this one:
“A king in waiting”.
Why do I want you to hold to this meaning of the word?
Because a plays a pivotal theological role in all that’s about to unfold.
And boy, what’s about to happen is mighty exciting!
See, the next major event we’re going to read about in Chapter 15 is gonna set the stage for the replacement of King Saul by a man of a totally different nature, one who more resembles Jonathan than his father.
And then in Chapter 16, finally we’re gonna be introduced to the king in waiting.
God already hinted at this in Chapter 13:
“But as it is, your kingship (Saul’s kingship) will not be established. ADONAI has sought for himself a man after his own heart, and ADONAI has appointed him to be prince over his people, because you did not observe what ADONAI ordered you to do.” – 1 Samuel 13:14
Of course, we know this will be none other than David.
But at this point, nobody else but God knows who the anointed NAGID is.
God had already chosen who the next king would be.
He just hadn’t been revealed yet.
Now before we dive into our text study from tomorrow, there are a few things I wanna communicate about 1st Samuel Chapter 15.
This is one of those chapters that’s jam-packed to the hilt with juicy theological golden nuggets.
We could spend weeks plummeting the depths of this chapter and still only scratch the surface.
Ya feel me?
Now don’t get me wrong.
EVERY word of Scripture is important.
But there are some chapters that are simply pure DYNAMITE when it comes to theological treasure.
And this chapter is one of them!
So look forward to what you’re about to discover…
When you really absorb and UNDERSTAND the God principles and patterns contained in this chapter, you’ll be miles ahead of everyone else.
MIIIIIIIILLLLLLLLLLLLEEEEEEEESSSSSSSS AHEAD!!!
So stay tuned!!!

Thank you for the good word Steven. Encouragement like this keeps me going! Just the other week, I did the calculations. I’ve been blogging through God’s Word for 10 years now. Keep keeping me in your prayers, brother.
ANITA CASADOS says
This is why I stay connected with you. I am hungry for the word of God, not the way that most pastors, preachers, ministers, etc. teach but through the eyes and minds of the culture when the Bible was written.

Amen Anita. Thanks for following and be blessed!
