Wanna know the big mistake a lot of Christian commentators and scholars make when it comes to Holy War as defined in the Scriptures?
Specifically, I’m talking about the Law of Herem (the ban) that says ALL spoils of war including women, children, and babies are to be utterly destroyed unto God.
The problem is they always try to explain away this uncomfortable teaching of the Bible because it bothers their own personal sensibilities of right and wrong.
This is nothing less than rewriting Scripture by projecting their own earthly ideas of morality onto the text.
Here are two quotes from some of the biggest names in the Christian academic world who have let their subjective notions get in the way of the truth of Scripture.
“Like the whole concept of holy war, it is far removed from the Christian code of the New Testament and must be seen in the context of the provisional morality of the Old Testament”.-R.P. Gordon
Or this one:
“This accommodation of the Law to each stage of man’s moral state, together with the continuous moral advancement which the Law as school-master was intended to bring about, and which in turn was met by progressive revelation, renders it impossible to judge of a Divine commandment by trying to put it as to our own times, and as applicable to us”.-Alfred Edersheim
You know what these two scholars are saying in a nutshell.
They’re declaring that God’s Ways in the “Old” Testament changed once we got into the New Testament.
They apologize for God and say He is different now compared to a long time ago when Abraham, Samuel, and David were around.
They also falsely and arrogantly assert that with the advent of Yeshua and the new covenant, we modern worshippers of God have risen above the need for Holy War and that the Lord has canceled such brutal protocol.
I’m telling you right now, that’s a bunch of booooooooooooooooool sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!
There’s only one little problem with this theory.
This idea falls to complete pieces once we get into the Book of Revelation and the end times Battle of Armageddon.
Because when Messiah returns to defend Israel against the Gentile nations, he’s going to prosecute that battle in full accordance with Holy War protocol as outlined in the Torah.
That means the complete and utter destruction of every last God-denying human on planet Earth…including every woman, child, and baby.
We’re told the Messiah will spill so much blood it’s going to fill up the Jezreel Valley to the height of a horse’s bridle.
As Yeshua said in his sermon on the mount, he didn’t come to do away with the law…
But to fulfill it…
In this case…to every last drop of blood.
Ya feel me?
