“But as it is, your kingship will not be established. Adonai has sought for himself a man after his own heart, and Adonai has appointed him to be prince over his people, because you did not observe what Adonai ordered you to do.”-1 Samuel 13:14
I am still amazed that Saul never took Samuel seriously when he told him his kingdom would not be established because he broke the Lord’s commandment.
What was going on in the guy’s mind?
My thoughts are that Saul, by nature was so deeply rebellious, he assumed he’d be able to stop any attempts for a challenger to take Israel’s throne from him.
This goes back to something I pointed out earlier.
The story of Saul is the story of the anti-king of Israel.
This will flesh out clearly when we see Saul desperately trying to hang on to his throne and kill God’s NAGID David (the king-in-waiting)…
And this in spite of possessing full knowledge that it was God’s Will to install David as king (because Samuel told him so).
This parallels exactly what we see between Satan and Yeshua.
Satan is the spiritual anti-king from ancient times…
And Yeshua is God’s spiritual NAGID.
Even though Satan knows Yeshua is God’s chosen Messiah, in his crazy mind, the devil thinks he’ll somehow be able to thwart God’s plans to make Yeshua King of Israel.
Well, that ain’t gonna happen homies.
So am I saying that those who are against Yeshua are on the side of Satan?
Yeah, I guess in a sense you could say I am.
Onward.
Another pattern that’s established here in 1 Samuel 13 is the uneasy relationship between a prophet of God and the earthly king.
Moving forward, we’re going to see these two always butting heads with each other.
Why?
Because a Prophet is always pushing forth God’s agenda while an earthly ruler is always pushing forth his fleshly agenda.
So invariably, these two agendas will constantly be in conflict with each other.
CONNECTING THIS TEACHING TO THE NEW TESTAMENT
“Whoever is not with
me is against me,
and whoever does not
gather with me scatters”
-Matthew 12:30
“Yeshua answered,
‘I am the way and the truth
and the life. No one comes
to the Father except through me.
If you really know me,
you will know my Father
as well. From now on,
you do know him
and have seen him.’”
-John 14:6-7
“Yeshua said to them,
‘If God were your Father,
you would love me,
for I have come here from God.
I have not come on my own;
God sent me. Why is my
language not clear to you?
Because you are unable
to hear what I say.
You belong to your father,
the devil, and you want to
carry out your father’s desires.
He was a murderer from
the beginning, not holding to
the truth, for there is no
truth in him. When he lies,
he speaks his native language,
for he is a liar and the father of lies.
Yet because I tell the truth,
you do not believe me!
Can any of you prove me
guilty of sin? If I am telling
the truth, why don’t you
believe me? Whoever belongs
to God hears what God says.
The reason you do not
hear is that you do not
belong to God.’”
-John 8:42-47
