I know I shouldn’t have done it…
But I did it…
And afterward, I had to pay the price.
What did I do?
I caved into my craving for a double-cheese large pizza right before going to bed…
And just after I finished gulping down the last slice…
Immediate regret set in…
But it was too late…
The damage had been done…
My blood sugars went hog wild out of control…
I instantly went into a coma…
And I’m positive my arteries hardened a couple of millimeters overnight as I slept…
When I woke up the next morning, I had a brain fog so thick it took more than a couple of cups of coffee to get to the point where I could think straight.
Now, why am I sharing this?
And what in the world does this incident have to do with our study of 1st Samuel?
Because just as I was lusting after a large double-cheese pizza before bedtime, so too were the Israelites lusting after an earthly ruler modeled after their gentile neighbors.
Their lust caused them to reject God’s form of government and replace the Judge Samuel with King Saul.
And just as immediate regret set in because of the damage I knew that pizza would do to my body, so too did the Israelites soon realize the magnitude of their stupidity in rejecting God for an earthly king.
They knew they had committed wickedness and rebellion and there was no going back to the “good ol’ days” of the Judges.
The damage had been done and the only question left hanging in the air was “What now?“
That’s a good and logical question given the circumstances.
Had the stiff-necked leaders of the Northern tribes committed some “unforgivable sin” with their demands for an earthly ruler?
Had God abandoned them forever?
These are important questions to answer…
Especially because they apply to our lives as well.
Well, that’s what we’ll be getting into the next time we meet…
And I suggest you check out what I have to share because the solutions and God patterns we’ll be going into will be nothing short of life-changing.
See you all next time.

Many thanks for the teaser.
The pizza story resonate lots of the areas in life when we set targets and resolutions yet accomplish little
If we can manage ‘the Appetite’ it will help us overcome
Although there are spiritual forces, behind our shortcomings, most of the times too, they are rather caused by psychological elements
I started fasting at a very early stage of llife because my dad encouraged and motivated everybody to fast at certain intervals, especially during lent. Although I practiced it for decades. I never got used to it until recently when i listened to a preacher who said that for most people the difficulty they face in fasting is their appetite NOT HUNGER .
The emphasis is that, we OFTEN EAT those foods at certain hours of the day and the body becomes used to that. Therefore even when we fast our bodies craves and lust the more at spcific hours for the those things because of the APPETITE but not always because we cant control the hunger. so if we talk about food for instance check the regular periods you take breakfast, lunch or dinner. Whenever you fast and the fasting is troubling and tempting you to break prematurely is mostly linked to the feeeding hours known to the body and subconscience.
Based on this information I monitored my fasting cycle and have found some evidence associated with it. I started working on it, and talking to myself at certain hours of the day when I fast and it works better for me.
There is a great reward for choosing to practice virtues and righteous lifestyle, but the roads are not all well defined and straight
Everyone who competes in the games trains with strict discipline. They do it for a crown that is perishable, but we do it for a crown that is imperishable.
1 Cor 9: 25
Put on the full armor of God, so that you can make your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this world’s darkness, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore take up the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you will be able to stand your ground, and having done everything, to stand.…

Thanks for sharing Abraham.
I practice a form of intermittent fasting.
I usually do 1 meal a day (OMAD for short).
As you explained, I get these intense hunger pangs during certain hours of the day.
But they go away if I’m patient and stick with my fast.
And then once my body switches over to burning my body fat for fuel, that’s when the magic happens.
The cravings vanish and I feel mentally sharp.
Thanks for sharing.
Be blessed!
