Yesterday I talked about differences in spiritual status connected to the four directions of North, East, West, and South.
Recall I said the East held the most preeminent status followed by the South, and the North held the least preeminent status.
Now what’s interesting to consider is that when we go back to the book of Genesis, we see that Jacob on his deathbed uttered certain prophesies concerning the future of the tribes of Israel.
One of those prophecies declared that it would be a ruler from Judah who would rule over all the tribes of Israel.
Here is that prophecy:
“Judah, your brothers will praise you;
your hand will be on the neck of your enemies;
your father’s sons will bow down to you.
You are a lion’s cub, Judah;
you return from the prey, my son.
Like a lion he crouches and lies down,
like a lioness—who dares to rouse him?
The scepter will not depart from Judah,
nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet,
until he to whom it belongs shall come
and the obedience of the nations shall be his.
He will tether his donkey to a vine,
his colt to the choicest branch;
he will wash his garments in wine,
his robes in the blood of grapes.”
-Genesis 49:8-11
Now here’s the thing.
Based on this prophecy, we can see that installing Saul as king who was aligned with the Northern tribes was ultimately outside of God’s prophetic will.
Another thing to consider is…
Would it not be wrong for those Hebrews who rebelled against God to be rewarded and receive blessings by getting the king that God originally intended?
You see what I mean?
Saul becoming king was the result of man’s rebellion, of wanting to replace God with a ruler patterned after the gentile nations.
Therefore, it would be inappropriate to reward their rebellion with a righteous ruler from the tribe of Judah and receive the blessings that would come from that.
What’s also interesting is what Jacob on his deathbed said about the tribe of Benjamin where Saul comes from.
“Benjamin is a ravenous wolf;
in the morning he devours the prey,
in the evening he divides the plunder.”
-Genesis 49:27
Hardly a flattering prophecy, is it?
And certainly not a description of one fit for a ruler of the Lord’s Kingdom.
In fact, the picture painted in the Benjamin prophecy more reflects the type of ruler the Gentiles worship.
“Devouring prey” and “Dividing the plunder” (amassing riches).
These are the desired characteristics of a worldly king.
So I’m sensing a couple of takeaways here.
First, if God gives you what you asked for out of your mistrust and rebellion towards Him, the fruit of what you asked for will turn out to be bitter indeed…as we’ll see what happened with Saul.
Second, I’m amazed at how the history of the tribes of Israel is unfolding exactly as Jacob prophesied thousands of years ago.
If God’s prophecies were accurate back then, why doubt their accuracy now and in the future?
Note that Jacob said with regard to Judah that “the obedience of the nations shall be his”.
This can only mean one thing.
In the future, the whole world will be ruled by a Jew.
I think we all know who that’s gonna be.
NEXT TIME WE BEGIN 1 SAMUEL CHAPTER ELEVEN
Ed Chapman says
Ezekiel 36 AND 37. Who don’t know dat?
George Nyamwaya says
@Richoka, you nailed it! One day, a jew from the tribe of Judah will rule the whole world for 1000 years.
KJV Isaiah 9:7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
BUT THE WORLD HATE JEWS
“But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.”
