Got a question for ya?
What image pops into your mind when I say the word “King”?
Don’t pause for too long.
Just tell me what comes to mind.
Now if you’re like 99.9% of the population…
I’m willing to bet the image that popped into your mind was some high and lofty picture of a majestic being decked out in the most expensive clothes, living in a huge palace, and having the best foods served to him for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
In other words, someone whose every whim is catered to on a daily basis.
But here’s the thing.
The typical definition and mental picture man holds of a king is radically different than God’s.
For us, a king is all about the visual, what is pleasing for our eyes to see, and all of the splendid personal benefits attached to such an office.
But that is not at all what God is as a king…
Nor what He will be as king in His future eternal Kingdom…
So let me close with this question…
If this regal image that pops into your mind when you think of a King is as far from God’s character and attributes as the heavens are from the earth, how should you properly envision the Lord as King?
Well, that’s what we’re gonna get into the next time we meet.
CONNECTING THIS TEACHING TO THE NEW TESTAMENT
“Yeshua answered,
‘My kingdom is not of this world.
If my kingdom were of this world,
my servants would have been fighting,
that I might not be delivered over to the Jews.
But my kingdom is not from the world.’“
-John 18:36
