Notice something interesting about the order of proofs provided for Saul’s benefit.
FIRST, two men spoke a word of truth to him.
SECOND, three men gave him two loaves of consecrated bread.
THIRD, the Spirit of God fell upon him.
To summarize…
Things started off with prophetic words…
Then Saul was given a physical sign…
Finally, the Holy Spirit fell upon Him.
Now if you look back on how you were born again, I think you’d notice a similar progression.
Let’s take my personal born again experience for example.
Looking back, the same sequence of events that Saul experienced also occurred with me.
First, another believer shared the gospel with me.
This would be the “prophetic word”.
Second, I received a copy of the Bible to take home and read (which I did).
This would be the “physical sign“.
Finally, after proclaiming my faith in the Jewish Messiah, I felt a peace that surpasses all understanding come over me.
I would say that’s “God’s Spirit” coming upon me.
How about you?
I’d love to hear your experience about how you came to be born again.
Anyways, the big takeaway here is the God patterns contained in the Hebrew Scriptures are the very same patterns that are fleshed out and fulfilled in the New Covenant.
And this also includes the formula for being born again.
This should make sense because the New Covenant is nothing more nor less than the Old Covenant being spiritually re-written onto the hearts of believers.
Here’s what you gotta understand homies.
The New Testament only fulfilled what came earlier.
It didn’t establish any new patterns.
Or to put it another way…
There ain’t anything “new” in the New Testament.
So when you discard the “Old” Testament…
Or declare the Law has been done away (like the gentile church has done)…
You’re trashing the very source document that contains the established patterns of God…
Including the formula for being born again…
When you do that, you won’t be able to recognize those same patterns when you read the New Testament.
This often results in some pretty ridiculous theology being concocted.
So to close, let me make it clear.
Right here in the so-called “Old” Testament, the pattern for what it means to be born again is being laid out for us.
And it’s the very same pattern that’ll be followed by Messiah Yeshua and His followers in the NT.
Understood?
I mean are we cool?
William Patterson says
Understood. This pattern made me a believer too. God bless you for using the talents He has given you. May God have mercy on me a sinner.

May God have mercy on me too…for my sins are also many.
Shalom.
Abraham says
we are cool
thanks sir
richoka says
Happy we’re cool!
Be blessed!

Another Torah concept that many say is a new thing. Circumcision of the heart, Deu 10:16 and Deu 30:6.
Hmmm…seems like all the concepts that Messiah taught came from the Torah! Whaaat?!
Shalom and blessings.
