“She replied, ‘May your servant find favor in your sight.’ So the woman went on her way, and she ate, and her face was no longer sad. They got up early in the morning and worshipped before Adonai, then returned and came to their house in Ramah.”-1 Samuel 1:18-19
I want you to notice something interesting about what happened to Hannah after she poured out her soul to the Lord.
Notice verse 18 says “her face was no longer sad”.
There’s a really important lesson here I want us to take to heart.
At this point in time Hannah was still barren…
And she still had no idea whether the Lord was going to give her a child or not.
But here’s the thing.
Although Hannah’s circumstances had NOT changed, she had changed.
And that’s what made all the difference.
The act of holding nothing back and pouring out her soul to God brought her that supernatural peace that surpasses all understanding.
Somehow Hannah knew deep in her heart the Lord had heard her prayer…
And that no matter what happened (whether she had a child or not), everything was going to be okay.
That’s what I loooooove about the power of prayer folks…
It doesn’t matter if your circumstances change…
Because if YOU change…
If YOUR response and YOUR attitude changes…
You know what’ll happen more often than not?
You’ll find that your circumstances will change too…
But even if they don’t, it doesn’t matter.
Because you’re no longer attached to the outcome.
You’ve got the peace of God in your heart.
And are now able to get through life without that dark cloud of depression hanging over your head.
We’re told that Hannah’s mindset had transformed to the point where her appetite returned…
And then when she returned back home to Ramah, wouldn’t you know it?!
God granted her request.
She became pregnant.
I love the verse that describes this event.
It says…“and Adonai remembered her”.
You have to understand since our God doesn’t forget anything, “remembering” here doesn’t have anything to do with memory.
Rather it means that the One who never forgets fulfilled the plans He had for a person in His own perfect way and timing.
Whenever the Scripture says God “remembered”, without exception it is always meant in a positive sense.
In other words, when Adonai remembers someone, it is to always bless someone, not to curse.
